What in tarnation??!!!

Driving down the road running some errands and what did I spy? This guy (actually a gal driving it).

Wondering what it could be. Has a SMALL pickup style bed, kind of like an oversized Subaru Baja. Any ideas out there in Pelican Land?

There are car dealerships galore in the area. I could see them doing an X3 or X5 mini pickup.

My first thought was Subaru, my other first thought was that the thing on the back is a red herring.

I'm usually wrong. I famously suggested that Hamilton's career was over when he jumped from McLaren to Mercedes.

Rumors floating around of a Subaru Crosstrek based brat coming soon. That window profile is spot on for a Crosstrek, and those are subbie wheels.

Kach22 drove to Cali?

Interesting market segment.

If it can tow say 3500lbs they may have something. Add AWD for the highway and pleasant dirt roads as well. Oh, make sure the rear window can come down.

The new Bronco will rule in the next year or so but this thing isn't going head-to-head.

Neither of my kids want a big truck, nor do I.

That looks about right. It had a tonneau cover, like Seahawk said, if the rear window goes down you can haul something. Wonder if they could make a folding rear panel? Nah,probably safety concerns.

The new Subaru "Brat".

(Old Brat, for reference)

..the "e-Brat"?
...the "electro-Brat"?
..the "Brat-e"?

And if we discussing electric pick-ups, the Rivian seems to be the cool kid. Amazon is their big backer. Even cooler than the Tesla Cybertruck.

That came up in my searches as well. The greenhouse looks about right. However, the A pillar isn't quite the same.

If they bring back the Brat, I'm gonna have to buy another new vehicle.

The Chevy Avalanche had that but they were a full frame vehicle.
