I just noticed someone had been beating on that cone wrench.

Yes mine... I didn't bugger the cone wrench. I've owned these for about 18 years and I've built more than 10 bikes with them.
(I also own a selection of Park Tools) If you flew to Adelaide with your frame...?

That must cost a small fortune even back then. Are all the parts there? Did they stop making them? I worked in a bike shop during my later years back in high school to get discounts. Built lots of wheels for them, but I was not allowed to touch the Campy tools, only Park.
I have an old frame built by a local builder 15-20 years ago when he was starting out. Its Reynolds 953. I have never ridden it, only primed. I had it on a frame table and everything is perfectly straight. It was meant to be painted by me when I have some time. Somehow time escaped me. Its still hanging in my storage. My plans was to dig it out and give it a paint job with my company name on the downtube during Covid then work just got stupid busy. After that, I have to find an old friend and see if any of them have a facing tool for the head tube and BB. Any idea what those decals are called where they are made like a stencil and peel off after painting? I could have easily gotten a frame painter to do the job, but what fun is that? Dangit, now it sits. Who am I kidding, I ride only carbon since the mid 90s. Hey, how bout' a couple more pics? Don't tell me you have the bottle openers too? Campagnolo still make tools and in theory everything is still available.
Here's another pic but this is an older one so not all of my Campy tools are in this photo. (I've been looking for a NOS Derailleur Hanger Alignment Tool for some time) The BB threading tool is "Italian". I own a Cyclus tool for BSA threading. If you want a pic of any particular tool in detail let me know and I'll post it here. ![]()

I mostly use water slide decals but that depends on the bike and what's available.
If you know someone who tests and repairs carbon frames/forks they have contacts for stickers direct from the manufacturers. This is a set I bought recently from an Aussie supplier. These are not water slides. You take off the backing paper and apply/smooth down then remove the top layer then clear coat on top. ![]() (Not my bike) ![]()

I have never heard of Paconi and I have seen lots of frame over the past 30 years? Tell you the truth, I love those smaller hand build Italian mfg. I have a Casati myself I raced back in the late 80s. It has no serial number under the BB. This was I know it was build by the old man himself.
My decal will have to be made. It'll be in my construction company's name. I love that CrMo Cinelli Stem on that Colnago. I had one, from way back, now I can't seem to find it so I bought a NOS from someone in Poland. Cost me an arm for it. Thanks for the tip on the carbon repair people. I don't remember ever seeing a hanger tool. It that it right under the cone wrenches? That off set seat post tool is really nice to have. I ended my making my own with a torch bending some useless thin metric wrench. Its sad most of those tools aren't needed for a modern bike with the exception of a few tools in that chest. I often wonder what the team mechanics use? |

Some more info on PACONI.
"Paconi’s frame builder Kevin Wigum was one of the only persons in Australia licenced by Reynolds to use and silver braze their 753 tubing which began its life as an experimental tubeset that proved to have excellent properties and would go on to be used in Raleigh’s Tour De France team bikes. Kevin was based in Melbourne Victoria." Team mechanics?... Probably Park Tools. This is the Derailleur Hanger Alignment Tool I mentioned. ![]() And it's used like this to check and adjust the alignment of the Derailleur Hanger. ![]()

Those Campy sets are awesome, I think The last time I looked, used ones were about $3,000? I have Park for most of my tools, although I have a couple Campy “peanut butter” wrenches, wheel dishing tool and 10 speed chain breaker.

Looks like someone is selling the hanger tool on eBay right now.

Where does that hanger tool go in that tool chest?
I have a Park hanger tool. That Campy tool looks to be hard to align the hanger for wider hubs. 130 bucks aren't a bad deal if it completes that tool set. I can't sleep after a couple of coffee with a client just before dinner time. Now you got me looking and thinking about this. |

Thanks for the links Mr West.
--- This is a full set (not mine). Note the position of the derailleur hanger. (Bottom left) ![]()

I worked in a bike shop in high school that had this tool set and built custom bikes. I was trained to use it and built most of the custom bikes my last year of high school. The frame head tube and bottom bracket bearing race faces were faced off with the cutting tools to ensure they were perpendicular to the tube. Wheels were custom built for each build so I built lots of wheels back in the day.
I also still have the bike I built myself back then. Viner frameset with full Campy Super Record (except for the titanium crank and pedal spindles). If I recall correctly, in 1984 those tool kits were about $2,000.

Very cool - I have always wanted one of those sets. I have made a few tools to improvise when needed...
