Monaco. It’s a free municipality. Best wishes to whomever earns pole (P1).

Monaco does have some beautiful views
![]() Surprised no one has brought up the topic of 'bendy wings' as the subject is getting a lot of airtime this side of the pond so I'm interested to hear what folk think I've got a crystal clear view on the legality of this and in my past F1 life helped stir up the exact same situation with the FIA that is happening this year. Are Redbull cheating or just exploiting a loophole?

I don't understand the bendy wing thing. Isn't the bodywork always subject to flexing under load? So all parts will flex a bit.

Now we're into definitions.
Exploiting a loophole: if you thought of it. Cheating: if your opponent thought of it. I'm guessing there will be one less car on track for Q1. Best Les

Wow, what an ending to Qualifying! Will have to see if any serious damage to P1.
Other surprises: Vettel shows he still has (some of) it. And Giovinazzi in the top 10! For a guy that has otherwise had a nondescript F1 career, that's got to be encouraging for him and Alfa.

I wonder when Ferrari will let us know if they have to replace the box.

They have said "No serious damage" visible to trans but they will decide Sunday morning. According to F1 news now. Hope that holds.

How does a Virtual Safety Car (VSC) work? I understand the concept: there's some sort of incident on the track, it's worse than just a local yellow so the stewards want all the drivers to drive at slower than race pace (about 70% of normal race pace) around the entire track, but it's not so dangerous that the Bernd and the Safety Car actually have to be deployed to bunch up the pack. So some sort of light goes on on the dashes of the race car (and lit signs around the track), and all cars are expected to drive at about 70% of normal race pace. If they go too fast, then they'll be penalized.
But how do the drivers know what a 70% lap time is? Even as good drivers as they are, there's no way for them to think "OK, I'll just drive at 7/10s now" and be accurate. How do they actually know that they're driving to make those sector times at 70% speed/time, and not 60% or 75%? Too slow and you'll lose out to your competitors. Too fast and you'll be penalized. It can't be something as simple as the pitlane speed limiter, is it?

I'm not gonna lie; I'm so glad that pole position went to other than a MB/RBR for the first time in forever, and Ferrari sure has suffered the last cuppla years, so good on them, mate, but I am not warming up to Chuck LeClerk - I find him insufferable for some reason - so I was really hoping that Carlos Sainz's son would have outqualified Msr LeClerc. It seems pretty suspicious that with seconds left in Q3 he went and pulled a Michael Schumacher and stuffed the wall after setting top time.
The fix is in!!!

I feel bad for Mick.
I didn't like Norris very much until this season. But the kid has got race pace and now qualifying pace too. Hard to understand what's going on with Danny Ric. |
