I'm really surprised the team wall didn't tell him to box since they had the radar. The situation with Hammy was much the same, he even said that boxing and changing tires was the wrong call. Hmmm, more of the usual from him. Team does really well in strategy and he slags them off. He would have ended up just like Lando if the call was left to him. The thing I find most gross is how Hammy goes way out of his way to compliment Russell and Lando. It is as if he is the sole authority to anoint the heir apparent. It was a very entertaining race. Just wish McLaren had made the right call. Really wanted Lando to take a W |
Another race where the Hammy luck scores him a win.
|
That was really entertaining, finally!
Yes the team shouldn’t have asked Lando if he “wanted” to stay out, bad call, and sad for him. Love or hate Lewis, 100 wins in F1, unreal! |

We just never see him crash out on his own, like Botas, or Vettle or Verstappen seem to a few times per year. |

Hammy is indeed his own man. He does not care what others think about is um, "style" or lack of it, anymore than I do. I wear my cell phone in a holder, on my belt, just like Batman! Lots of people may think it looks stupid, I simply can't possibly care less what other people think about my style.
That said, those are pretty funny pictures above. Hammy came on Top Gear back in the early days. He was free of visible tattoos, had short hair and very quiet and polite. He drove the "reasonably priced car" in a heavy rain and was almost as fast as the Stig's time in the dry. He is a mega millionaire and will have almost all the records that matter in F1 when he retires. Lots of it was pure luck, not all of it. |

Meant to post this earlier in the week as the word on the street or down my local pub from a very reliable source is they will join when the new engine is introduced in 2026
Seidl at McLaren is ex-Porsche, Capito at Williams is ex-VW, Dominicalli at FIA is ex-Lamborghini/Audi so some strong links at board level to both brands Proposed new engine will keep V6 turbo architecture but no MGU-H (to complicated and not relevant to road cars) with a much higher % of battery power |
Turkey driver interview:
"you guy saw the bond movie, what did you think?" George russell: "blablablablablablablablablablablablablablabla bla for 5 minutes" Kimi: "Good movie". I'm gonna miss him ;-) |
Andretti Motorsports is supposedly finalizing a deal to purchase 80% of Sauber/Alfa Romeo F1 team . Rumored to be 350-380 mil . I didn't copy the link due to cookies but it was a F1 GP website .

So what is up with the white livery for Red Bull? Kinda big change.

Scheme is inspired by the Honda RA272 which became the first Japanese car to win in F1 when Richie Ginther took victory at the 1965 Mexican Grand Prix  I like it, think it looks great, hope it's fast too but not heavier as the titanium dioxide pigment makes white a heavy color ;) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1633737411.jpg |
White is a heavy color, vely intelesting.
Too bad there are myriad sponsors logos to clutter the livery. https://revsinstitute.org/wp-content...exicanGP05.jpg |
I read that when Red Bull presented their idea the only input from Honda was could they please put the red meatball on the nose as an homage to the 272 livery.
I like the look of the car. |
Anyone know if Colton Herta has a super license ? Interesting article .
Andretti driver linked with 2022 Alfa Romeo seat |
Wow great effort by Mick Schumacher to advance to Q2 !!!
|
With the grid penalties, quali was sort of a predetermined outcome. So that gave me a minute to ponder...
Why does a driver that will start last bc of penalty get to run in quali? Sainz got out of Q1 which means some other driver didn't advance but will move up tomorrow. Ditto for Hammy. I can see him allowed to run in all sessions but w a 10 place penalty why not move up dude in 11th and allow him to do Q3. Of course there was a slight possibility that hammy only qualified in 10th which would make him 20th but that's unlikely. Anyway, Q3 was so anticlimactic that I came up with that. |
And now throw in a wet race , could be an interesting race . Looking forward to watching Sainz and Danny Ric coming from the back of the pack . Also does Mick have the wet skills of his dad ?
|
very cold very wet. should make for a crazy race. LH's famous luck should help him today.
|
Hamilton, always wins, sucpicious to me, but what do I know? Shoemacher was the King, and still is. He actually raced...;)
|
Congrats to the winner , good points day for Red Bull . I disagree with the penalty given to Gasly he was in a sandwich and no place to go . I do agree with the penalty to Alonso he punted Mick . On to the next race 😊
|
I think I heard Ham yell... "tell Bernie to turn on his sprinklers" at the end there.
|
Not sure why Mercedes had Hamilton pit so late in the race. At that point and with him keeping good time to the cars in front and behind, he should have stayed out. Whoever made that call traded a P3 for a P5.
Nice drives by Bottas, Hamilton, and Sainz. |
Hope Bottas keeps winning
He could maybe win championship himself, ahead of the other two.
|
The most reasonable explanation from Merc was that the team was hoping for a miracle and slicks would be the right choice for the last few laps. Alas, the window of opportunity never arrived for slicks and by then those inters were trash, and the ideal window to change to fresh inters had long since passed. You could see in the pit stop the tread was gone. If they would have kept him out on those rags, who knows what might have happened. 7th? A DNF?
|
I thought they called Hammie in due to the threat of rain and the condition of his tires.

58 laps of wear on Ocon's tires. He didn't pit at all. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1633910941.jpg |
This is Lewis we're talking about. He has a superhuman ability to make tires last longer than anyone else. And even when he loses a tire, he can still manage to drive with only three for almost a whole lap and win a race. I realize and considered everything you wrote, herr oberst. And I would have sided with Hammy and gambled, staying out.

I have been watching all the old Top Gear episodes on Amazon Prime. I just finished the episode from when Lewis changed from McLaren to Mercedes and Clarkson asked if he was just nuts for leaving a successful team to a team that had only won one race at the time. We all know how that decision turned out.
Lewis had driven on the Top Gear track but it was very wet and his time was not a winning time compared to the Stig and Reubens or Vettle. So he came back on a dry day to try again. He was over a second faster than the Vettle who was the fastest until then. Lewis also mentions that when Rubens Barrichello had beat the Stig he came to the next driver's meeting wearing a t-shirt that said "I beat the Stig" and handed out t-shirts to the other drivers that said The Stig beat me. He said getting to the top of the Top Gear track was a bigger thing than winning Monaco. I suspect that is only partly true. Love him or hate him, he is a great driver. Lucky as hell, but a great driver. |
Our thanksgiving weekend
Did everyone get the "F1 in Turkey for the thanksgiving weekend" I guess only Canadians would get it as you southerners have a later thanksgiving., so never mind.
I thought it was funny. |
Hammy made a statement on the non-pit issue. He does say it was his call but notice that he doesn't apologize to the team for the slagging off and blame he gave them, just some stuff about being a team.
https://www.express.co.uk/sport/f1-autosport/1504078/Lewis-Hamilton-statement-Mercedes-Turkish-Grand-Prix "Yesterday we took the risk to stay out hoping it would dry, it didn't. I wanted to risk it and go to the end but it was my call to stay out and it didn't work. "In the end we did pit and it was the safest thing to do. "We live and we learn. We win and we lose as a team. Don't ever expect me to be all polite and calm on the radio when I'm racing, we are all very passionate and in the heat of the moment that passion can come out, as it does for all drivers. "My heart and spirit are out there on the track, it's the fire in me that's got me this far but any angst is quickly forgotten and we talked it through, already looking ahead to the nexrt race. |
I enjoyed the commentary with Jenson Button. He gave a lot of good information from a drivers perspective and was funny and enthusiastic about the race and drivers battle.
