That was an old jet. This is just a typical case of poorly trained pilots and/or poorly maintained aircraft. I would be very hesitant to get on board a airliner that operated from that part of the world.

They would be obligated to do maintenance throughout those 9 months. Aircraft don't sit for free, they require engine and system runs at a minimum on a OEM schedule.
What they did during those 9 months though who knows, airlines are poorly regulated in that part of the world.

It had 132 flights after sitting - and then crashed? Doesn't seem to make sense the issue is related to non-use.
