Insurance coverage in 2019.

Has anyone changed carriers since the last few years?
Any good or bad stories with making a claim?

I have been with Hagerty for the last 5 years since no mileage cap, and god reputation for paying claims with minimal hassle
Plus, I like the magazine and subsidizing the Barn Finder series

Latest coverage is $670/year + $60 for the roadside towing coverage

Out of curiosity, I got a quick online quotes for $32k agreed value
Leland West ($656)
Not enough to bother changing.

670 a year?? I just added my '86 to my State Farm policy with full coverage for 130 a month.. Do you have a mileage restriction with Hagerty?

You also might want to try Grundy. For my situation, I found them cheaper than Hagerty.

I like Hagerty “stated value”. Yes, you pay for it but long gone are the days of inexpensive repairs and cheap 911’s.

I just switched from Haggerty to Grundy (12/04/18). I had been with Haggerty for years. They wanted $1300 paid yearly...... Grundy was 1/2 of that. I do not know why Haggerty was so high on a vintage 911. I use to get coverage for 3 classic cars for that price.

Wow, $1500/yr?
Are you under age 25?
Multiple tickets?

No mileage restriction with Hagerty

I am also in the market and priced out hagerty, Chubb and Grundy. Hagerty and Chubb were in the same ball park at 800 or so. Grundy was less than half. Anyone with first hand experience using Grundy? Any issues? Ken

I just got a Grundy quote
Oddly, Grundy's online app did not even ask my age

$263. That got my attention.
(Looks sadly over at magazine on coffee table)

Anyone ever make a claim w/ Grundy?

Grundy classic insurance

Grundy seems restrictive, and the wording could screw you.
Bolded line basically excludes all driving except a Sunday drive.

From an old thread:
Quote:
In a conveniently accessible policy (Grundy, 2013), a couple of coverage/exclusion statements read:

"There is no coverage provided by this policy while your "covered auto" is: used for organized or impromptu racing, rallying, participation in any speed contest or time competitive event, or while driven on a racetrack for any reason.

"Is not used for regular driving to work, school, errands, shopping, general transportation, secondary or back-up transportation, business or commercial purposes, except for limited personal use."

In addition, in my quick review, I could find no yearly mileage limits.

I will have to check Hagerty out. I'm 28, but have never had a ticket go on my record and haven't been in any accidents *knock on wood*.

My sister also switched her collection to Grundy, this past year. One caught fire and we were able to get it put out..... Grundy was extremely helpful and easy to work with on the repairs. Payment was quick and easy.

Was that standard type coverage or stated value coverage. I have all my cars through the same State Farm agent I’ve used for almost 20 years- Audi, Jeep, 4wd Chevy truck, enclosed trailer, 911, house, personal property and umbrella policy. They aren’t the most expensive but they’re certainly on the high end. For now the 911 is in winter hibernation but in the spring I’ll be shopping. State Farm has a stated value classic policy, I’ve got mine insured at $50K but no collision for the winter and my policy $65/month.

I left State Farm after 31 years....because they did not want to offer me stated value insurance on any of my classic cars. I had State Farm (Home/Auto) and then a separate policy with Haggerty for my classic cars.....

Standard type coverage (I think). my agent said they could do a classic car coverage but the miles would be limited to something ridiculously low. I would like a policy that just insures the car for what I say it's worth. I'm guessing that's the stated value route? I have two other vehicles I insured through State Farm and I was pretty peeved that there wasn't a better discount when adding a third vehicle.

Not a "chargeable" claim.

And, by the way, these is no mileage issue.

You need to understand the difference between standard coverage, stated value and agreed value. The first two put the value in the hands of the ins co, the third guarantees your value.
There have been several threads here on the subject in the past so do your research.
Your location also will affect what you pay. The rates and possibly mileage restrictions seem to vary by state.
5 years ago I had Hagerty through my local agent at about $800 yr for 30k. After looking around I switched to Leland West with the PCA recommendation at about $400yr for 40k. Leland West is really American Modern ins for Porsche owners.
When my policy comes due in April I will try to raise the value to 60k and see what happens.
Happily I have had no claims, I do not race and I usually just drive to car shows and C&C.
Good Luck!

I use Hagerty whenever I can. Service and support are excellent and the cost is great. Had a total loss claim with them on my last 911 a little over 3 years ago, and they were excellent to deal with. I did get dropped after that, but now back. I always recommend Hagerty for vehicles like we have.
