Booze...right to your door!
I can see this going over real well.
Lots of people that don't want to get out (esp because of covid)...or be seen buying. https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/uber-will-bring-the-booze-after-acquiring-drizly-for-2411b/ar-BB1dkj4P

Almost all the delivery services deliver booze. We have one that picks up the empties and we donate the money to the food bank. Lots of neat innovations coming out of necessity.

When Oklahoma became a state on November 16, 1907 the state constitution prohibited all alcohol. Well sort of, the state constitution said beer that is less than 3.2% alcohol is not alcohol. Low point beer was all that was legal. Just like national prohibition it did not stop booze in Oklahoma, it was just illegal.
When national prohibition was eliminated it did not affect Oklahoma as we still had state prohibition. Finally on April 8, 1959 state prohibition was ended, but no liquor by the drink in bars. Full legal liquor by the drink was not passed until September 18, 1984. Finally in 2018 the laws were brought fully into the 20th century and I can buy cold strong beer or wine (any beer at at all) in a convenience or grocery store. Hard liquor is still just a liquor store thing. On July 10, 2018, medical marijuana passed and we have more dispensaries per capita that Colorado or California. Only a few areas in Oregon have more per capita. They are everywhere. More than all the Starbucks, Subways and McDonald's combined. During the China Virus pandemic it was allowed to go to a restaurant and order take out, and they will hand you your order right in your car and that can include mixed drinks or beer and wine. I can drive over to a restaurant and have them hand me beer, wine or a cocktail while I sit in my car. I can then drive to the local horse race track, bet on the horses, then go into the full casino and gamble like in Vegas. I can buy lottery tickets almost everywhere. Drive home and pick up some pot on the way. I have zero plans to do any of that, but it is legal. Oklahoma has the world's largest casino. At 370,000 square feet you can find something to play if you like to gamble. And yep, we can have a bottle of booze delivered to the door.

With the Zoom meetings and stay-at-home working my boss has taken to having monthly "Happy Hours" on a Friday afternoon. See has a 50ML bottle of whiskey sent to each of us for the meeting. Every quarter she sends a 750ml bottle of our choosing ($70 limit). The very first Zoom Meeting devolved quickly into off color jokes and lots of laughing. It has been more civil since then.

My dad talked about the days of Oklahoma Prohibition. He could call one of two different bootleggers and have a bottle delivered to his door for cheap. After prohibition was abolished he had to get in his car and go buy taxed liquor and it cost about the same, but he had to go.

There are still quite a few "dry counties" here in NC. People don't drink beer there and are going to heaven

When I was a kid we lived in San Marcos, TX for a couple of years. It was a dry county, so if dad wanted alcohol he had to drive across the county line to the closest liquor store. That store was owned by the San Marcos area sheriff, and the local baptist preacher. Of course any baptists buying booze were never acknowledged by name and they were granted temporary catholic status until the crossed the county line again.

When I lived in Jax decades ago, they had drive thru liquor stores (never went to one) where you could get yer drink to go .... but ya couldn't buy beer on Sunday in the whole county. That meant a 15 minute trip to the beach was mandatory. Heathens live at the beach

When I was stationed in Bamberg Germany in 2013 we had a beer truck that you could go out and buy beer from them. I wish they would have played music like an ice cream truck. If you were not home you could leave a note and the empty bottles in the porch and he'd pick up the empties and leave a rack of beer. He would mix the racks if you wanted a variety of beer.

![]() Oklahoma has 77 counties, and few and fewer dry counties. That tax revenue is tempting to all levels of government.
