Go Amazon!

Might be a huge help to get the vaccine to where it should be.

If they could make the shots self-injectable...would solve a lot of problems.

When I had my broken femur..they sent me home with twice daily self injectable shots.
It was easy.

Why did they wait until January 20th to come up with this great plan?

Exactly... It’s everywhere it needs to be already, and coming in daily.. Some of it is getting thrown away because they don’t have a good system to get it to the people.. Publix just announced that they are giving it now.. That will be a big help around here.

Our idiot prime minister screwed up the supply chain for Canada so where I live we are basically out until mid February. They can’t give out more shots because then need to save them for follow up shots for the few who got them...

Supposed 1st world problem?

Good news indeed. But playing politics with the lives of Americans isn't really a good thing to do. Where was the offer in late December when the vaccine rollout was starting? I think I'll be cancelling my Amazon membership.

What happens if you take a shot that was not kept adequately cold?

Does it

A) do nothing?
B) cause serious health effects?
C) create a false sense of protection that could lease to subsequent infections?

If any of the above apply, this is the reason we can’t trust the average joe to do this.

How many of you have given an injection? I’ve given thousands of shots to livestock and house pets and only a few to humans (morphine when my mom was dying of cancer and insulin to my dad when he was unable to do it himself on the way home from his Thailand adventure)? It’s not easy.

WOW! How do they justify this? She was ‘in danger ‘ enough to be close to the front of the line for a shot but no not ‘in danger’ enough to need the follow up... someone needs to be fired and sued personally for this clear negligence.

Two years ago...twice a day/ every day for a month into my own belly.
No directions for the first one...just did it. It was easy. (needles now are super thin)

Some needles are super thin. It depends on the viscosity of what you are injecting and if this is intramuscular or sub cutaneous. I have no idea what the Covid vaccine is like or if it’s injected sub cute or IM. If I use a 18 or 20 ga needle to be ‘kind’ with oxymicene or Resflor on an animal, it is a difficult injection because it is hard to squeeze a relatively ’thick’ fluid through a thin needle and these are generally given sub cute.

The old school penicillin we keep around is IM injection but very thin so easy to inject with a 20 or 22 ga needle, even on a 20 pound Tom cat... he only gets 1 mL.

Since this is IM, on a cow I would need a 18ga needle for the same stuff.

As a side bar, even the pros can’t do it sometimes. Yesterday it took an experienced nurse a couple tries to get my IV started before my operation and I realize this is far more precise than a SC or IM jab.

Canada gets their Pfizer supply from the European facility. Pfizer is updating the facility to increase production. Capacity will be decreased for a couple of weeks. When they get back up and running they will be ahead with the increased production. All of Europe is in the same boat.

I looked it up. 0.3mL is a tiny amount of vaccine. This is less than a insulin injection if I recall. It is given IM so if there is risk of embolism if air gets injected.

You also dilute the vaccine first and once this is done the shelf life is radically decreased. Most people would not be able to do this correctly.

https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/covid-19/info-by-product/pfizer/downloads/prep-and-admin-summary.pdf

I think the answer is to get the military involved in giving these injections at mass injection sites.

I see now. The shots I had to give myself were anti blood clot shots...or blood thinner shots. Didn't take hardly any pressure to push the stuff thru the needle.

jeez. ANYONE can give a IM shot... virtually anyone. no swabs, no etoh, nuthin. bumfock simple. grab a hunk of flesh , jab and press. done. at this point with 2.3% of us population jabbed, there should be no holds barred. the amazon prime guy could do this at every house he goes. unfortunately the rate limiting step is 30 min observation period after jab to check for acute anaphlaxis symps.
