Sorry about the 686, I know you loved that car. LOL it sure was a well put together car to manage the impact. I know the Br-Krause saved you but the car itself held up well. |

Sorry to read about your car Byron but great to read you'll live to bunny hop/endo another day
Wonder if Brey-Krause will add a gusset to the inside of each bend to strengthen the brace further for this type of crash |
Home a few days, been to a few doctors, the new pains are growing ascthe adrenaline level lowers and more color as well. Hopefully will get to see the 968 uncovered this week.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1612210399.jpg

That is NOT a pretty leg!
And that was before the bruises :D. Keep healing Byron ... |
Well, I saw the uncovered carnage today. Definitely had some one looking out for me.

You know, the U shape of that bar and the associated mounting points to the B pillar at the ends of the ‘U’ and the kink in it show pretty clearly that it didn’t really do much to stop the B pillar from collapsing.
If the bar was straight across like a strut brace, it would have made a big difference, it isn’t though. Think about this, the force was applied to one side of the U and squeezed it to the other side, it’s thin tubing and it buckled, once this happened all bets are off. The kinked tubing offers no structure and at that point, it’s all Porsche engineering that saved you. I’m not saying it did nothing, it did contribute to the rigidity of the B pillar but only for the first 1.5-2” of crush (or less), after that it kinked and it no longer helped. It’s great to see you got out of what could have been a life changing accident. Go ahead and think that bar saved your life if it makes you feel better. The reality is that your guardian angle was riding with you that day and a 944 / 968 is a pretty strong structure. |

The 44's rear quarter is very strong and that's what saved the day |
Good to see you out and about. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...es/cheers2.gif

See where the left rear wheel was hit? The suspension probably was pushed in flush with the LR fender and sprang back out. The transaxle took a huge amount of force. See the RR wheel was pushed out. The tires also absorbed some force as the car undoubtedly spun. Massive impact, and way too close to the driver's door. That was a lucky lucky day for you!

Are you open for trades on the wheels?
Too soon? They ought to send you some new gear with all the free pub you are giving them. |

Not that I care too much, but did the latte the truck driver had even spill? Did they stop and wait? And were they cited?

Then you can run her down a back road somewhere and see if she can break 120. |
Making progress, Byron?
