Awesome Byron ... no pain meds a real bonus!

stevej37 02-08-2021 02:04 PM

When I went in for my 10 day exam for my broken femur. (car/bike accident), the surgery doc asked about my pain and if I needed more of the pain killers he had sent me home with.
I answered that I hadn't taken any of the first ones.
He broke out into the biggest smile...I'll never forget and said "That is the best"

Stay with it!

Joe Bob 02-08-2021 02:14 PM

Not me....but has anyone offered to take the meds off your hands?

I know my stoner friends did when I had my knees and Achilles tendon done. I disposed of them. I DID NOT flush them. Bad thing.

Glad you are recovering. My brother was hit by a car. Broke his femur as well as a skull fracture. He was disqualified from ski racing and and other contact sports. He ended up going to the NCAA finals, Division I in Cross Country. Don't le anyone tell you XC isn't a contact sport.

I just saw him doing a "cowboy" on his Dyno with mushroom grips and dice valve caps while wearing Oakley Blades--he must be fine;)

Slowly, but surely, feel like a 14 year old on restriction, still can't drive, can't go for rides , just Physical therapy, but haven't had a pain pill in over a week,
So that is a good thing, although the last few days have been a bit rough.
Thanks for asking.

I wish, although I don't have a Dyno anymore, I do have everything else, including the Oakley Blades:Dhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1614915553.jpg

Great to hear your progress byron! Do not shy away from the pain pills too much. useful for pre medicating PT workouts. otherwise human nature is to do them less well and ignore. That BK bar should go on your trophy wall .. along with the hooters paraphernalia and beer can collection!

unclebilly 03-05-2021 09:23 AM

Byron - glad to hear you are getting better... what are your plans for the bar?

Thanks for the tips, I can't wait until I am off restriction , so I can ride again, but I'm following the doctor's orders.. will get to see under the 968 on Sunday, that should be interesting and painful, in more ways than one..
As stated above,

Glad to see you're making progress Byron. No pain meds is a good thing too.
I was scared into following the Dr's advice when she told me if I screwed up my sternum it'd be worse than what it already was pain wise. I think I've had two Tylenol during my recovery.
