My dad was pretty special. He never did a damn thing to draw attention to himself, but he worked every day, came home every night, put the paycheck in the family bank account every week. He was steady as a rock. It didn't win him any fame, but in its way it was harder than being famous.

Have put between 3-400k miles on various 911's.
Was in a commercial with one of the stars of the movie fatal attraction. Volunteer with pet rescue groups. Son of the greatest parents in the world. |

I had breakfast with Alice Cooper one time. He looked almost normal. Cool guy. He had his whole entourage staying in the tour coaches behind the hotel but he stayed in the hotel.

Pretty damn sure I helped Jimmy Buffet dock his boat in Key West back in 1986. Didn't think much about it at the time, but after I came home I was reading about Jimmy and his sailboat, I think it was in Sail Magazine, the boat was a wooden ketch with solar panels and no motor. I remember thinking at the time about how different this boat is, no motor but solar panels.....my wife and I were just walking around the small harbor and a boat was coming in with a very small jib flying......I walked over and a curly haired guy with a mustache through me a rope and I pulled him and and tied him up!!

I had dinner with Bob Weir without knowing who he was. 6 of us and he's a friend of a mutual friend. We sat next to each other and talked cars the whole time. I said "have we met before? you look familiar" he said "not that I'm aware of." After dinner my buddy was laughing "you didn't know who that was?" |
2.8 decades of military service to our Nation. Been, seen & done a couple of lifetimes of operations experience, hard work and long family separations. None of these make me special or different from the other Patriots who serve and have served in war and peace, many of whom are on this forum. I have a few bits of colored ribbon to tell me I did a good job - that and a monthly retirement check are enough.
Like other guys & gals, I've lots of war stories and sea stories. Two that I will remember till my end of days... Being part of a team that help to find, fix and completely finish some Al Qaeda *******s that mutilated a little Iraqi girl out on the Syrian border. Second, a decade later and a couple of continents removed, again working with a team to teach, coach, mentor patriots of another country who' are pursuing life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. These acts are known to only a few, I like it that way. It is enough. |
I lead an unremarkable life, just like I like it. In my own work circle, i am pretty renowned for my ability to remove stuck fasteners. Haven't worked the floor in a couple decades, and I still get the guys coming to grab me when they round one out, or have a bolt in a spot that is tough to reach.
Maybe I will get that as an epitaph "he really knew how to unscrew", leave people wondering lol. |

Me. Not much. I was famous with the flight instructors in college because I was good at flying. They sat me in the simulator back in 1987 for a short intro to flight and to assess me to see if I would be a good candidate for the program. I was doing ILS approaches within minutes of sitting there. Back then I wished I had good eyes to have the military pay and maybe a military career, but life turned out pretty good the way it is. |
I managed a 2:56 marathon. Lot of work to get under three hours.
It was my fourth marathon and called it quits after that. Accidently ran into Bob Hope on a base in Thailand. Got to talk to him for a minute. |
I broke two ribs at Banzai Pipeline on Oahu... in the summer when the waves are flat. While boogie boarding a shore break slammed me into the sand.
I got up laughing but a 3 days later while running, the ribs let go and I was doubled over in pain. |
I scored 3 td's in a HS football game..wait..Al Bundy.. lol...I played semi-pro soccer way back before the MLS was ever a thing. Was a chubby lil kid playing Varsity soccer but eventually got good enough to play with the big boys in the Adult leagues. Also pretty big here in flag football. I've coached championships teams in every division. So that's a big deal for me.

Oh yeah, when I lived in Germany in the early 2000's I took my E30 M3 to the Nurburgring. Coolest trip ever! About 3 hour drive from where I lived.
On my first lap a wire wore down its outer protective sleeve and activated my windscreen wipers. I went about 3/4's of the lap with the wipers on and at times the washer fluid was going as well. Not that I was going that fast anyway, or so it seems with bikes passing at the speed of sound. Quick break in the car park between laps, I was able to remove relays and fuses enough to stop the madness. Problem was on the way home I had no wipers or ability to get the bugs off the windscreen. |

Och... Ha. You have boogie boarded Pipeline and I have body surfed the mighty Waimea Bay (sure it was only 2' and breaking on the beach LOL) that makes us BOTH famous. |
Hans Solo can go suck-it. I did the Kessel Run in 11 parsecs.

I can tie a cherry stem into a knot with my tongue.

I guess im pretty famous for building contraptions. 22 million views on this one https://youtu.be/03szt5Ln9bs
It was also on some discovery tv show I havnt seen. I took something to a car show once and a guy recognized me by my machine. So that made me feel famous. I dont like being famous. It attracts strangers. Try to avoid it as much as possible. |
That thing is too cool! a real "feet" of engineering
