A friend works for a commercial caterer. They have a contract with the NYC hospital system. They make x,000 meals every day and then dispatch those meals to the various hospitals based on the daily projected census. Due to covid and general hospital populations being low, they had 100s of excess each day.

My friend would bring them home, take them to the snack stand at the little league where they would be stored in the fridges (which were empty because no little league last year) and distributed to those in need around town. No questions asked, just show up at the little league complex and ask for as many as you need.

The local health department shut them down because the packages did not include proper labeling.
