In the words of the great car collector, Bruce Meyer, buy the best example you can find and pay whatever you have to pay. "That way, you only cry once." :) |

I think the driveshaft was one of the weaknesses of the Cayenne. But at 283k, it has probably been replaced a few times. |

It's 8:40 and the guy didn't call me so maybe he sold it today. Will be calling Dan tomorrow to see what he's got. |

220,000 on my '08 6 cylinder.... It is my daily driver now. Wife has a '13 6 cylinder with maybe 70,000 as her daily driver. My '08 had a trans issue when I first bought it with about 150k on the clock and I had to send the trans valve pack out for rebuild. At about 200k the high pressure engine mounted fuel pump took a shiit. Had to replace original battery last year and I think I have put new brake pads on it once. Very nice to drive and is plenty peppy in sport mode. Have pulled our 21' boat with no issues. The 6 cylinders are your best bet when buying a high mileage unit as they do not have quite as many bells/whistles to go bad and the engines have less known issues. |

Considering Shaun (and Tim) appear to have resources for repairs and maintenance that many of us don’t have...maybe it’s a challenge worth taking on. What would concern me are the plethora of electronics, warning lights, CEL’s, sensors, pumps and various unobtanium doodads (along with special diagnostic equipment needed), etc that regular walking-around folks wouldn’t have. |

I believe the GTS and turbo models have the most electronic gadgets including adjustable suspension . The base Cayenne ( V6 ) and S model ( V8 ) have less bells and whistles . That may or may not be a good thing . In the limited online research I have done it seems like complaints about either V6 model is much lower than the V8's . The later/larger V6 I think would be a good daily driver if ultimate performance or towing capacity is not needed . If you want to spend a little more $$$ look for a diesel model . |

Dan, you aren't alone in thinking that the Pepper Wagon is the best vehicle you have owned, I have seen many testimonials saying that on different sites. I love my Pepper Wagon http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1614039602.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1614039602.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1614039602.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1614039602.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1614039602.jpg |

My 2004 Turbo has close to 200K and no serious issues. Lots of power and plenty of fancy accessories. The big tires are not cheap...and gas mileage is not great. Great to tow with though. |

I'd rather have the Tundra. |

I have not been able find a really nice 00 to 06 Tundra. Last one in NC was beautiful but my friend said it had a lot of bondo. I am a little concerned about losing the bed. |

It’s just me. I can only handle so many projects. Any car with nearly 300k sounds like a project. Given the number of Tundras built vs the number of pepper buggies it seems to me the chances of finding the right Tundra should be much, much greater. On the other hand you have already found the cure for happiness, so what do you have to lose? |

 I'll be needing a 4X4 SUV soon. I'm thinking either a Cayenne or a VW Tiguan, $20K max. On Craig's List there's a 2011 Cayenne with 134,000 miles for $20K, and a 2018 Tiguan with 35,000 miles for $19K. Why buy the Cayenne? |
