Your BEST cup of coffee
How do you make it?
- cold brew - French press - drip coffee maker - pod - Aeropress - pourover - Moka - Japanese siphon I do cold brew, French press and pods. Had Japanese siphon and pour overs at coffee shops. I think the best I had was Japanese siphon coffee. Need to try an Aeropress and a Moka.

Yes, siphon coffee is pretty good. But it's just so much easier to make an Americano with the cappuccino maker.

Clever Cup coffe Dripper. Ethiopian Yirgacheffe natural process, 25 grams coffee ground fairly fine to 400 grams water. Use this method:

Folgers coffee from a standard coffee maker.
Just simple cheap black coffee. No fru fru flavors, cream, sugar or other crap, just the coffee.

I have a client that imports large dollars of very high end beans from Ethiopia.
Wife bought me a double boiler espresso machine- which I use daily. Still finding perfection. Getting better and closer. I find most roasts are too dark. Except for the ones that are too light! Goldilocks has not been found. |

WPOZZZ sent me some good stuff this Christmas. It didn't last long.
Even with a cheap drip machine it was very tasty. Best was with a small espresso machine I had for about five years in the early 2000's. Hardly mattered what the beans were as it was always rich tasting.

Best I have made myself is Moccamaster drip + weighed beans (Kean Coffee / Kona Farms / Maragogype) + 150 TDS H2O . Those beans have a deep, smooth flavor that is really amazing.
I have not made french press since I have gotten better equipment. I have enjoyed pour over coffees, but do not have home equipment. Ain't room in the kitchen for more stuff.

French press at home with local roasted coffee mostly. Kwik Trip has decent stuff if I am on the road.
You have to start with good beans or it won't matter what method you use.

Agree with the Hawaiian beans. I use Kauai Whole Bean Coffee, Koloa Estate Medium Roast. My last two gigs have had Super-Automatic Espresso machines - keep the nerds caffeinated. Gotta say, pretty cool Machines that deliver foamed steamed milk and espresso to the cup - latte, mocha, caramel cappuccino...whatever, in about 15-20 seconds. The latest is a Concordia brand machine. I've had a look inside. It's pretty cool mechanisms. But my first cup, my morning starts with a simple espresso machine. -A couple shots using the Koloa coffee. While grinding, leveling and tamping, I think about the office super automatic, and how there's not a long process in getting that espresso drink... of course, those machines do take a lot of counter space. And are not cheap, even used. :-/ For travel I pack some Hula Girl instant (freeze dried) Kona coffee. (best instant coffee IMO)

I go to Philz.
I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but I'll be damned if that wasn't the best cup of coffee I've ever had in my life. I walked back an hour later and got a second cup. I live in the land of SBUX, and Phil doesn't live here. But whenever I'm near one, I'll get a cup.

Salvatore Espresso maker using dark roasted Yemen beans from Trader JOes. It was so strong it could dissolve your spoon while stirring. I called it Mud Coffee...
Cant get those beans no more cause there is a Civil War in Yemen.
