Who has lightly used parts in them? Thank you organ and tissue donors.

The I ain’t dead yet threads got me thinking about this.

Who has donor parts in them and what do you have?

I will start.

I have a lightly used Achilles’ tendon as my new ACL.

I have a less than 3 year old 20" titanium rod that sits inside my femur bone.
No rust...great shape.
Maybe use as a hood prop?

I was my own donor when they put my ankle back together when I was 18...
Guess that doesn't count.
They took tissue from my Achilles to make a new sheath for the tendons behind the "ankle bone". Don't know what it was actually called but the repair is now 40 years old and mostly pain free.

I have a ligament in my knee from an old fat white, slow Lithuanian. All other transplants were from other parts of me or a titanium mine.

No donor parts yet, hope I don't need 'em - that's a big ask from friends and family, and I'm not too friendly - but I do have more than my share of medical-grade hardware from my FLST's (Friendly local surgical teams)

Mostly new parts, no old ones. A Medtronics pace maker/defib, and a new mesh hip reconstruction (from a shattered pelvis resulting from a car accident).

Does hardware count? 6 relatively small screws in my jaw (3 each side) from when my lower jawbone was moved back about 3mm 32 or so years ago.

Yea, just a titanium hip and some titanium teeth implants. All new parts, not recycled.

I was a blood donor for 20+ years and donated over 5 gallons. I did a lot of Apheresis in the era when the pumped blood out one arm and sucked out the component they needed, and pumped back in the rest back to me. They called me once on a Sunday and said we really never do this, except we have a 6 year old child that needs a donation of your platelets, or he likely will not live until tomorrow. What was I to do, say I had planned to watch a race and drink beer. They of course would never say if my donation helped the kid, I hope it did. I am sure my blood donations helped many people. I hope so. And yes, a donation. All I ever received was t-shirt with the blood institute logo on it, some cookies and a bottle of orange juice.

Not yet. But it is important to think about this as one day, I may.

I donate blood regularly. And, my uncle passed recently. He donated his body to OHSU for whatever they needed. Not sure if anything was harvested as he was 80.

Altruism is a big deal.

As I'll be 80 on my birthday next year and don't have any "new parts" yet, I don't think I'd be worth it if I needed any. Plus the parts I have are pretty old and used, so I don't think I could offer any parts for anybody else to use. What a sad state of affairs.

I’ve met Marv and he is quite possibly the healthiest, best looking 79 year old on the planet. He looks like an extremely fit 60 y.o. with no creaky bones, moves like a younger guy, etc. Just a specimen, we can’t control our genetics but clean living helps, I’m sure.

From appearances, he looks like he will outlive a lot of younger Pelicans.

Shattered elbow years ago, fell out of gambrel barn onto concrete floor. S.S. Plate in wrist, wired, and screwed elbow. Limited range of motion. Screw in right middle finger after separating our two dogs who were fighting. Snapped my finger. Haven’t set off metal detector yet!

I used to donate blood on the regular. I'd go down early on Saturday morning, drop off a pint, flirt with the cute nurses and wreck my blood-sugar with juice and cookies. I have gallon pins up to 3. The process - at least in Portland - became onerous because of red tape and I quit going. I should check it out again. Maybe I was meaner back then, and now I would have the patience to do my part...?

i know someone who will be in one of those BodyWorlds exhibits upon dying.

As for me, I'll likely need replacement knees and an ankle at some point. Just about at the age where colonoscopy begins.
