Help me ID an electrical connection

Need help from the Pelican Collective! Looking to ID the male 2-pin connector that goes into this:

I'm working on a puddle light upgrade on my 987.2 S.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

is that on the car?

Looks like Molex or Jst

Have an old PC case? The old 2 pin connectors like the speaker or reset button might be the right spacing.

Or try a hobby shop/amazon

If it's from the car, I have a bunch of wiring from stripping the boxster, I'll see if something matches.

If I had to guess, I'd say that by "puddle light" he's talking about the one at the bottom outside corner of the door panel. I don't remember ever seeing a name for that light, but that's the only thing that I can think of that would be a puddle light. I'd like to replace mine with an LED. I had the door open one day for a while and then bumped the lens with my leg and it was darn hot.

Correct. But the 987 / 987.2 series still used traditional bulbs and not led’s. So I have to splice the connection together.

Are you on Reddit? That's a good place to submit connector questions.

Is the bulb itself not socketed?

You're probably too far into it at this point, and enjoying the journey, but Suncoast Porsche sells an LED kit for the interior that includes those lights.

Quote:
LED Light for Overhead Console x 1
- LED Light for Door x 2
- LED Light for Front & Rear Trunk x 2
- LED Light & housing for Glove Box x 1
- LED Light & housing for the lower dash x 2

A Suncoast Parts brand product, kit may contain some Genuine Porsche light housings. Fits all 2005-2012 Boxster models.

I don't believe it is. Or if it is, then maybe the housing is glued shut around the bulb. If you look at the replacement, you get the whole thing, housing including bulb. But I haven't ever tried to replace mine, so I can't say for sure.

There is a complete plug and play kit to replace all 987.2 interior and license plate lights with LED bulbs. I can say it's very excellent, and you'll find it at a certain dealership known to sell Cayman and other Porsche parts, located in Sarasota, Fla.

I've seen said kit and pondered it.

I showed your picture to my friend Jack Butler and he said it was a 220 or 221, whatever it takes.

Clever. Send those to the boys as Singer!

I bought the "Macan S" puddle light thingies for my GF. She refused to allow them, lol. She is adamant that the vehicle remain stock.

Thanks! I prefer to do very small cosmetic modifications to my car - but I do love the tech-geek stuff! Most of my modifications go into making the Cayman track worthy...

Regarding your GF's Macan - you can always "return to stock" the puddle lights - takes less than 5 minutes, especially since you don't need any splicing with your newer car. Tell your GF to at least see what it looks like...

^ Brother, you are preaching to the choir! It's all I can do to get her to take it in for brake service before the idiot light comes on. I've got to pick my battles.

Again, sweet lighting trick!
