5 reasons not to buy Robots
1.Batteries are expensive.
2.They'll inevitably rebel and overthrow the world. 3.Technology advancing too quickly. By the time your robot arrives in the mail, it's already obsolete 4.personal robot data mining. 5.When the UPS guy delivers your new fem-bot to your middle aged, single residence, he'll know exactly what you are up to. |

6. and the UPS guy starts asking questions about "how life-like is it" every time he delivers a new lot of batteries.

Bought my first robot in the 80's - Heathkit Hero.
I mentored a HS robotics team from 2005 to 2015

I gotta come clean.
Earlier today I considered two threads- 1. 5 reasons not to buy rolaids. 2. 5 reasons not to buy rolos. Rolaids played nicer off the ears in relation to rolex, or Rolos (compared to robots) but, there was only one reason AGAINST rolaids- That's TUMS. So I couldn't justify it. ROLO's- There I could justify several reasons against. They are small. They go down too easy, leaving one unsatisfied. The caramel sticks to your teeth. - but it didn't chyme like rolaids. So, then, I went with Robots. A literary outlier, it didn't really fit in, but the AI sex doll thing seemed to be much more creepy on YT. Well- There you go. Also- Add. 7.Romex wiring not water resistant in robot hot tub/bathtub scenarios. There's something about this tech that's just plain creepy. The tech is not quite there, and frankly, I don't want it to be there! Last edited by LEAKYSEALS951; 03-12-2021 at 01:48 PM.. |

As a Land Surveyor, I've used a robotic (auto tracking) surveying instrument in the field since about 2003. I bought it second hand from an engineering/surveying firm. It was absolutely new in 2000, yet spent it's first years.....in a closet. Simply put, the firm that bought it new counted the beans before the purchase and realized they could send one man out in the field with the robot to do the same work as 2 or 3 men. In many cases it's considerably faster than a 2 or 3 man crew. Yet great in design and savings in payroll costs, the firm expected one man to learn how to use the robot and then work by himself. And they probably weren't going to give that one man a raise in pay to do so. So that's probably why it wound up never being used, or used very little, and stashed away in a closet.
I'm a one man show in my business, so the robot has worked for me. Yes, it is a LOT of work for one man to do by himself, and of course the robot isn't going to dial 911 if you need it. It doesn't call in sick or need to take the baby to the doctor. It's never hung over and can't show up for work. But what it will do is absolutely run you into the ground working if you aren't careful. So with that, the robots of my industry have been beneficial. |
