My laptop is freaking out

Recently my laptop images started looking like the picture below.
Not every image, not all the time. Windows 10 pro
It seems to happen after the computer is on for a while.
Any ideas what's happening?

I would say the video card in the laptop, probably built it is over heating possibly? Right click on an open area of the screen and see what sort of video system you are running and what resolution is. Sometimes this happens if drivers have not been updated as I am guilty of doing and my screen will revert to 1080p when I log in and I have to bring up the utility of the video card to jump back up to 4k resolution. There will then be a little window saying new drivers are available soooooo I get the but that always forces a reboot.

Thanks to all of you for your ideas. John's idea (overheating video card) got me thinking.
I turned over the computer and found dust and debris block the cooling vent.
I hope by cleaning this the problem will disappear.
Thanks again for the ideas.

And everyone, remember to clean your mouse balls

Mouse balls are now available as FRU (FieldReplacement Unit) therefore, if a mouse fails to operate or should it perform erratically, it may need a ball replacement. Because of the delicate nature of this procedure, replacement of mouse balls should only be attempted by properly trained personnel. Before proceeding, determine the type of mouse balls by examining the underside of the mouse. Domestic balls will be larger and harder than foreign balls.

Ball removal procedures differ depending upon the manufacturer of the mouse. Foreign balls can be replaced using the pop off method. Domestic balls are replaced by using the twist-off method.

Mouse balls are not usually static sensitive. However, excessive handling can result in sudden discharge.

Upon completion of ball replacement, the mouse may be used immediately. It is recommended that each replacer have a pair of spare balls for maintaining optimum customer satisfaction. Any customer missing his balls should suspect local personnel of removing these necessary items.

BTW I still remember cleaning the mouse ball and internal rollers. Thank God for laser mice.

The worst deal was an intern who inherited a PC from a manager. It was covered in a greasy layer. Keys discolored. He didn't smoke.just greasy fingers. I helped him disassemble the keys and clean the "mung" from it. Gross!
