Many retirees don't have much income on paper and will qualify for a check.

brp914 03-14-2021 01:58 PM

I'll use whatever amount I get to pay for increased prices resulting from the printing the stimulus.

Yeah, I'll take the money and distribute it as I see fit. It's the most influence over government spending I've ever had, and I'm not going to miss the opportunity.

stevej37 03-14-2021 02:03 PM

If you have filed your taxes before they issued the check...they will use 2020 AGI
If you haven't...they will use 2019 AGI

That's why the distribution scheme makes no sense. The virus impacted people economically in 2020. You could have been doing great in 2019 and have your business/income crash in 2020 and wouldn't get a check when you really need it. The stimulus should be based on your situation in 2020.

Gogar 03-14-2021 02:13 PM

I did pretty good (for me) in 2019 and i will not receive either of the last two checks, even though in 2020 I made about 3 bucks.

I don’t understand how anyone on a Porsche forum is getting a stimulus check...

I belong to a Honda forum also. Is that better?

Bill Douglas 03-14-2021 02:29 PM

Somehow it doesn't seem fair that I don't get a stimulus check :(

Yep, we is poor people us fullas in the South Pacific.

Baz 03-14-2021 02:54 PM

For those who are saying people on a Porsche forum shouldn't get a stimulus....what is the total amount of money in someone's checking account that anything more than that would disqualify them, assuming they have no other money in any accounts.

In other words.....where do you draw the line that someone is wealthy enough that they don't need it.

Never thought of it that way. Good point.

I don’t understand why they aren’t. Who pays the damn taxes in the first place?

Do you feel 2020 was a 'normal' year for income?

For some it was far better than "normal". The only reason it was slightly below normal for me was that used equipment has been so strong that my normal suppliers have been retailing their competitive brand or sending it to auction where it was bringing almost retail numbers. My best first quarter during my time in business was 2020. Weird... I know.

stevej37 03-14-2021 05:33 PM

I think they are looking for a 'normal' basis for their calculations. Not how good or bad 2020 happened to bring.

Skillet83 03-14-2021 06:44 PM

I will not receive a stimi and would never accept one. I am tired of the free chit army. This stimulus has nothing to do with helping the citizens of our country. You have been sold another boat load of BS. No body will say anything because they get their little check hoping for me. F'ing sheep being led to slaughter. How many here that receive some butter actually needed it? 1.9T with about 3B going to the people, F me.

Is it really that hard to understand?
I "alone" wouldn't get a dime. I as "part of a married couple, who's wife owns her business and pushed nearly every dollar back into it over the past 10 years while taking a few thousand as income when possible" will get the full amount.

Not that hard to understand.

If someone hands you a pile of money, and you don't want it, what you do is:
1) Thank them sincerely
2) Wait for them to leave
3) Hand the pile of money to someone else

Don't whine about it.

red-beard 03-14-2021 07:59 PM

The "official" date on the checks/deposits is 3/17/2021

Therefore, Chase and Wells Fargo have decided that they will not deposit money until then. Even if they have the funds earlier.

Eh, the banks have worked hard through this, they deserve to earn 3 days of interest on my money.

I presume that the green is inferred, what with it being money, and March 17th, and sarcasm...

Interesting perspective. Why would they do that?

Yep!!! In theory. But the money is gone either way so it won't help our burgeoning debt. I suppose that I could get $20 bills and wander thru a homeless encampment handing them out.
I will probably piz it away on my car or toss it in my ski fund for next year's Epic pass and my annual western trip.

rfuerst911sc 03-15-2021 05:35 AM

I will use mine to help pay one monthly health insurance payment , my wife's will go towards another health insurance payment . Would love to spend it on something fun but common sense says use it otherwise .

GH85Carrera 03-15-2021 07:16 AM

I will use mine just like the last two stimulus checks, I will dole it out in larger than normal tips to decent waitresses or waiters. I have always been a good tipper for good service.

Last night was out 29th anniversary, so my wife and I went to the restaurant where we had our first date 30 years ago. It is an upscale Cajun and seafood place. Normally the service is great, but last night we got a lousy waitress. She only got a $10 tip and would have had double that had she been attentive and done her job right.

I plan to "blow" the entire subsidy on large tips to wait staff. I don't need the money, so I will give it to good service providers.

I have no clue. It was just my two cents worth. :)

What I do know is that it paid for me to do my taxes early this year. My 2020 agi was way less than 2019's, which allowed me to get the full $1400.
The one in Jan....my check was a third less than the normal because they used 2019 agi.

BK911 03-15-2021 09:46 AM

Just got a letter saying 2400 will be direct deposited with 7 days.
I have 2 chitlins.
Thought they got another $5 or 600 each?
Im starving here man!

I think that was the case for a lot of people. That's why I think sending the stimulus checks out as a LOAN would have been a better idea. When recipients pay their 2020 taxes the load is forgiven if your AGI was below a certain level, and repayable with your taxes if it was above that level. That way it helps the people who had a bad year in 2020 and doesn't waste money on people who don't need the help.
We will be giving some of the money to the local battered women shelter again, some to the local food bank, and spending some at our favorite restaurants.

As I understand it, if those chitlins are still dependents on your tax return, you get $1400 for them this go around. You gonna be rowlin in it!

stevej37 03-15-2021 01:49 PM

And it also depends on your last tax filing. If you haven't filed by now...they will go by your 2019 tax return.

Baz 03-15-2021 02:00 PM

I gots two 4-legged chitlins......should I get double the amount for each of them?

I'm starving here man!

stevej37 03-15-2021 02:06 PM

^^^ It's worth a try.
I heard the IRS is swamped....claim em!
