I need help finding replacement cabinet hinge
This is the hinge for an inside corner cabinet that opens up to a Lazy Susan in our kitchen. The problem is the locking tab on the inside is broken off. I don’t even know where to start looking for a replacement hinge. Any ideas? If I can’t find a replacement hinge I’ll just rig up some kind of MacGyver fix. Thanks!

That should be a 45degree hinge? Show me a pic of the corner
That looks like an Chinese import? There's should be a stamp inside the cup somewhere on the hinge. Its not a 110 or 120 degree. |

Any cabinet shops in Lincoln? One might have a replacement sitting in parts..

Pic of cabinet and we can narrow it down. Home depot also has some in stock, you may be able to match it up. Basically need to know frame or frameless, angle of opening, and offsets.

Take off the other good one and measure the specs such as full open rotation sweep etc.
(I don't remember the technical names for those) It looks very similar to a Grass hinge I once replaced. Same location. It was a pain to find. Take photos with measuring tape. If you can't match it with the cheapo box store garbage which I wouldn't recommend, or a local cabinet store, they might be able to. It was something like $20-30 from another website like cabinetparts but it got fixed. I also had to install additional brackets inside to keep the cabinet carcass panels from moving. Both hinges.were replaced. Adjusting takes a little time to figure out but it's nice when it's close to perfect.

Amerock
I have the same hinge on my lazy non gender specific name cabinet ![]() https://www.shopamerock.com/Amerock/European-Hinges/amebp4613d14-ms.html;jsessionid=BACD2E457FEC7462568BED04958E33E 6.worker2?gclid=CjwKCAiAhbeCBhBcEiwAkv2cYxdk69oBhf jS_BVjxhXvXjzQ6hh6nZs7MwYynsUUuo-pahh2lq_NJhoCp-AQAvD_BwE Biggest issue you might have is that the holes on the new one won't match the old. I had to take my doors to my friend and have him put it in the machine that bores the holes. But I think I also went with a different brand because it was what my friend had in stock.

Is that the hinge that goes from the cabinet rail to the door itself or is that the hinge on a two piece corner door that joins the two pieces?

Nick wins the prize! That’s the hinge! I told my wife that if I post it on the pelican board someone would be able to help us out. And thanks to everyone that weighed in on this first world problem!

The cup and holes will always fit because those cabinets are built based on a 32 mm system. That means the screw holes are always 32 mm apart. The hinge cups are always 35 mm. May I suggest you buy a set of Blum, I know, they are more money, but worth the paying extra. The clip together instead of sliding into a slot and held together by a screw between the hinge and plate. That Amerock maybe the wrong hinge? Its 1 1/2" for 1 1/2" overlay doors. Notice the hinge cup is above the plate fully open, your hinge is when open fully.
I am bias because I have all the Blum drilling equip at our shop and I know they made a great product. Many of their products are still made in Austria. Get me a pic |

Lucky for you mine broke several years ago! And even more lucky I remembered the name of the manufacturer! Glad I could help.

That has not been my experience. I have 4 screw holes in several doors because the newer ones have a hole that is either forward of or behind the old original set. I don't recall which it is. Spacing side to side is correct but front to back... not so much

I’m pretty sure the one pictured in the link is the same one I have. One of the pictures has all the dimensions and it matches up with my broken hinge. Keeping my fingers crossed!

My friend doesn't use Amerock anymore so my new hinges weren't a direct replacement. I think you'll be okay.

Quote:
If you are talking about hing plate placement (on cabinet side), that's a very specific dimension, exactly 37MM from front finish edge of cabinet. From the edge of the cabinet door to the edge of hinge cup is normally 3 mm to within a 1/2MM. That will cause the door to bind depending on the size of the door that's cut. We use an Inserta hinge by Blum. The cup expands into the surrounding materials. Once its expands, its on tight. That or Plastic dowels with screw insert using a Blum machine pneumatic ram for that only purpose. They seem to be best IMO. It will tear out chunks of plywood before the plastic dowel fails. I have done testing with a sledge long ago. Last edited by look 171; 03-14-2021 at 06:48 PM.. |
