That is why I love my 1985 911 Carrera. I LIKE to have a real (amazingly effective) heater for the cold days, and kick butt AC for the long summer days. And I do have the fancy assisted brakes, but they sure don't feel like power brakes. And I have that upscale thing Cruise Control for long cross country trips I make.
It has enough comfort to get my wife to ride with me on a 6,000 mile journey to all the New England states, into upper Maine, Canada, and back home for example. When the temp is 16 degrees it is real nice to have great heat. In Savannah, Ga in August with the heat index of 135, Air Conditioning is not just nice to have, it is life support, and my wife asked me to turn the temperature up because she was cold. Just my opinion, the Carrera 3.2 is the perfect 911. It has the great looks, it is all driver car no nannies, reliable enough and comfortable enough to go anywhere in the lower 48 with paved roads. ![]() Back in 1974 I was at the dealership and saw the first impact bumper 911s, and I said to myself, every other car on the planet looks horrible with the new big mandated bumpers, but the 911, looks better. I know all the long hood fans think that is blasphemy, but I honestly like the look of the impact bumper, and the sugar scoops. As long as I own it, it will have that perfect look. YMMV

Nice! Unfortunately, I think this video will keep raising the price of entry for a long hood. :-)

I'd LOVE to have any 3.2L 911 as long as it was in great shape. The brakes were amazing and like you said, didn't really feel like power brakes. The heat and AC (and the controls for them) worked really well (my AC probably didn't work as well as yours does, but I did have the upgraded vents, that I think hit in '86?). Although, I'm sure that I'd be overjoyed to have ANY air cooled 911 in good shape.

It's an amenity some places, but a necessity in others.

I'll confess to missing driving my old 911S...especially during the years it wasn't an exercise in paranoia to do so. It did deliver a driving experience that none of the newer 911 cars can.
On the other hand, I'm glad the paranoia is long gone...

Go vistt Savannah, GA in August and you will find out. Or key west almost anytime of the year.
What other 36 year old car of any make has nearly tripped in value, can take me to the corners of the USA, or make my face hurt from grinning as I scream around Laguna Secca as fast as I can possible go. And be comfortable enough for my wife be happy to ride along.

likes to left foot brake.

agree with the premise of the video but show a car with 600hp plus driven well with no nannies.
Would a 912 video advocating no nannies be like dunking on a 6 foot high basketball hoop? |
