Decaf coffee is just not satisfying but no more reflux at least

I love the taste of coffee but I can’t handle the reflux anymore and I’m already on medication for it. I tried switching to decaf but man, it’s just too bland. Have you guys tried a rich tasting decaf brand you can recommend? Thanks.

Drinking some decaf now. It helps (with the Keureg) to make an 8 oz cup (stronger) instead of the normal 10. Still not as good as the real deal, but don’t need caffeine in the evening.

I began doing half and half (whole bean) around a year ago--just to lay off the caffeine a bit. Neither me nor my wife has noticed much difference.

We are currently using Seattle's Best Portside Decaf---I use a custom roaster for the fully-loaded beans.

Never made any difference for me. I've found that watching what I eat and when I eat it makes more difference than decaf/reg coffee.

I gave up on crappy tasting decaf years ago and just recently found a local coffee guy who grinds his own and you make it using the "pour over" method.
It tastes just like the old days, just no caffeine. Your answer is out there. You can have good tasting coffee again.

Not just what but how. I use Eight-O-Clock decaf, from a shipping mistake from Amazon. But I prepare it in a Jura Capresso Super-Automatic.

I prefer the 100% Columbian. And choice 2 is 1 scoop decaf and a mild coffee. But 2 scoops decaf powder make a good strong cup. Good for the days I have to go to my doctor.

BTW - Since I've switched to half Caf, I have found I'm a little less crazy...

Are you sure the issue is caffine?

I cant seem to obtain coffee 'satisfaction' unless its espresso, to the point that when i travel i stop drinking coffee. There is something in the espresso that lights me up. Its not caffine because i get the same happy from good decaf. I typically have four double espressos each morning, figure im habituated to caffine but a medium mcdonalds coffee gives me the jitters before ive even finished it.

Generally espresso has less caffine per 'drink' than other methods. Caffine leaches slowly into water so faster the brew the less caffine.

The decaf bean i know is good is the decaf sidamo from espressovivace. Works great for drip and it makes amazing espresso: comes out as a chocolate fruit bomb.

I only have one cup of regular coffee a day, mostly out of habit but I do enjoy the taste...I drink my coffee like the color of my soul, dark and unadorned.

If anyone has any suggestions on a brand of decaf I can order or buy locally, I'm all ears as well. Again, I'll add nothing to the coffee.

I drink a LOT of coffee, so I wanted to minimize the caffeine load. For the last year or so I have been on a mix of about 75% Decaf to 25% Regular, which works perfect for me.

There are two different methods of decaffeinating coffee. One uses a solvent to remove the caffeine from the beans, the other is "Swiss Water Method", which just uses water. Since I drink a lot of decaf, and I like Dark Roast, I did a fair amount of testing to find a great tasting, Dark Roast Swiss Water Decaf.

My number one, hands down go-to is Wicked Joe Organic French Decaf Dark Roast. It is fantastic, and available on Amazon. My second choice, but definitely second, is Allegro Organic Dark Roast French Decaf from Whole Foods. It is very good, but not as good as Wicked Joe. Both are Swiss Water method Decaf.

There may be other craft/small-batch options, but this is where I have landed and I am very happy with it.

If you have a Nespresso machine, the decaf ristrettos are pretty good as a double.

Have you tried making cold brew coffee? It is much less acidic than hot brewed coffee, and yet has a much richer flavor. It's also pretty strong, so you can dilute it if desired.

Today, after complaining for years that Costco only had one (SF Bay Coffee company) decaf, I found Peets Major Dickason Decaf in the 2 pound bag. I have bought this decaf from the Peets store and it was good but pricey. Also, the Trader Joe's French roast decaf is pretty good too.

As far as acid reflux, I dont know that caffeine is much of a culprit. I suffered for year and ended up with a No Sugar, No Grains diet that cured my reflux in weeks. No beer, no whine, no wheat, no corn, no sugars. So many health benefits other than the reflux (lost weight, no anxiety, clearer thinking, better sex life). No kidding, NSNG changed my life

Arrived yesterday. My wife and I tried some this morning and we are very favorably impressed.

Good to hear. I was curious to the feedback. People's tastes are definitely different, so I wasn't sure what other folks would think. But you said it perfectly...it doesn't taste like decaf.

Not really a gimmick, i have a few friends who have switched to only drinking cold brew. I wouldn't base your opinion on the cold brew at Starbucks, though. Like most things, home made is best.
