My Lab loves his Chuckit! and it helps if you're like me who threw out his arm many years ago playing baseball. Your rotator cuff will thank you!

And bonus, it's actually shaped like a spoon.

A long time ago some guys I knew took a pipe and put a cap on the end of it. They then drilled a small hole near that end. They'd fill it with propane from an unlit torch, put a tennis ball down the open end and light it off. They used to fire them off at the cop chopper at night. Yes, they went that high. You did not want to be in front of it when it went off.
Oh to be young and stupid again.

A fraternity at my Alma Mater, which sits on a hill, had a working canon. The bore was just right for a tennis ball. Makes perfect sense to me. What could go wrong?

We used a stack of 3 soda cans, back when soda cans were made of steel with the evil detachable pull tab (Paul, we also used the pull tabs, bent just right, sandwiched in scotch tape for easy retrieval to "cheat" the coin laundry driers at MSU....but that's another story!) properly vented and assembled with duct tape, fueled with zippo lighter fluid to launch tennis balls from our "cannons". Probably early 70's. I think about it now, and that was certainly "technology" that travelled from neighborhood kid to neighborhood kid.

We held the can (cannon) under our arm sorta like a rifle shooting from the hip and our buddy would light it off standing behind us. Young and dumb but having fun.

This looks more fun than the chuckit, but my mutts won’t chase a ball. 🤣
