I would question your ratio... more like 10 Billion bacteria cells : 1 human cell. I may be a couple orders of magnitude low still.

I sure avoid them if I can. Or at least DON'T touch the door handle with bare hands.

A friend of mine worked on the ferries between the north and south island in New Zealand. A VERY rough bit of water. He said someone will have got tummy trouble from the chicken curry they had stuffed down and gone for an emergency dump. Then they will have felt sea sick and turn around to throw up in the toilet. You can imagine the rest (spray painting the cubical wall).

That goes for traveling outside of the country including 3 rd world ones. We learned to always unload when a McDonalds is available. This go for any American fast food joints outside of N America. The bonus was the Burger King in Hong Kong. We were beat to pulp by the humidity and my kid needed to go. So we stopped off at there and I discovered they serve beer. I don't normally drink, but this Burger king beer was a must. Almost 30% of the people in there spoke some type of funny English from the UK.

Man, this had been a PITA for me as well. I am always drinking coffee. Since covid, all public bathrooms are closed. One time, I need to pee so badly that I had to find a wild area and water the plants. All bathrooms are closed.

+1000. I was just going to type that.

I have a few public restrooms. We use a hospital grade anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, pretty much anti-everything cleaner. Every time. And yes there is a reason that toilet scrubbers have that scraping edge tool on the back.

And by the way, we never closed our restrooms. There isn't even a lock on the outer door of our gas station restrooms.

We agree on something! Holy crap! (probably not the best choice of words considering the context)
Great that you have worked to keep the bugs under control. Not sure I want to know about the scraping edge on the scrubbers, but I'm confident you have a use for them.

Reminds me of the old days when I was a teenager going out on fishing boats from our harbors. I was told with a very stern voice about throwing up in the restrooms. The deck hands has to clean them. When they find out and they always know, we will not get any service. I am told, "Do it overboard. Feed the fish." During the winter days rock cod fishing with 10' swells. Guys were getting very sick from it and they just let it out right on deck with fishes on the hook. We had to wind them up from 600'. Freaking work out for sure. Didn't know what the heck what I was doing, but it was fun. I didn't get sea sick too often. The trick is to not eat a big greasy breakfast at the landing, I discovered.

I found all restrooms across Canada, at least between BC to SK, are general very, very clean including the gas station out in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks good to know
I was referring to Sheetz in the U.S.
I don't think Sheetz is in Canada

Bumper dumper.

Every parking lot is your golden palace with a bumper dumper. No can say anything, you're on the damned toilet!
Get the hell outta here kid, I'm crapping!

Haha. I have one of these in my pop up camper, it has been great for urgent needs. It beats a porta potty, as it is single use into doggy bags. No mess cleanup. You will of course need a vehicle it fits.

It's better to deal with a code red than a code brown, I've always said.

Gee this might be one of the few times New Jersey wasn't the worst place in the world for ridiculous shutdowns, irrational rules and regulations?

I am not 100% positive but I don't think Wawa shut down it's bathrooms? I remember in the middle of this whole Covid $h!t fest (trying to keep with the theme of the thread), there was an attendant and people were permitted in one at a time?

If there was a left over turd in toilet two the restroom got quarantined, cleaned and put back on line.

Wawa's bathrooms are always clean.

Somewhere on the shore of the Deschutes River, an ancient fragment of one of my t-shirts is slowly decomposing. Along with some other ****.

When covid began, I found most restrooms closed, but they opened them up pretty quick. There are still some that are closed, or have to ask for the key, but that is mostly because of the homeless.

In my youth I worked at a race track. I was one of two low man on the pole. We had to clean the bathrooms. The Ladies room was always the worst. The only to clean it was open both doors and hose it out. Woman are some nasty people when it comes to bathroom use.
