3000mm, wow, that's crazy. Is there something special that makes it good for astro, or why do you say that? Anyone with that thing had better have a REALLY sturdy tripod. Don't try to use it on a deck or anything other than very solid ground. And they'd better have a remote shutter release. And hope that there's no wind.

I'm guessing that set you back about $83, and then another $27.50 for the mount!

I'd really like the 50mm, but I could probably get by with the 1.4 vs the 1.2L. I'd also like a 70-200 f2.8L My only L

Had the 70-200 2.8L for a while. Absolutely one of the best out there! I switched over to primes for astro-photos...haven't really used them yet...Doh!

Currently in use with my 1D Mark IV are: 50mm 1.8 (yes that plastic POS that outperforms 99% of the other lenses out there), 17-40 f4 L, 24-70 f2/8 L, and by far my favorite: 70-200 f2.8 IS L

the nifty 50 is a great lens, but I'd like to have the USM version which I think is at least as good.

Just the lens and lens cell. Made by LZOS. The remainder of the scope was made by APM telescopes in germany. The mount is U.S.A. built by software bisque.

I (my wife) have the 50mm 1.2 and 135 2.0. Both amazing. But, I call the 135 the magic lens. EVERYTHING looks fantastic when shot with that lens. Coming back from a photo shoot, I ohh and ahh on some shots. The 135 is usually the lens I am excited about, and, I don’t know which lens took which pic. | ||

| Get off my lawn! | This is just the lens from our our aerial film camera. The camera was a Wild RC-30 (pronounced Vildt) that cost just $495,000. The lens alone is 150 pounds. The film was 10 inches wide, and 500 feet long. It shot a 10x10 frame of film. It was 150 MM (6 inch) focal length yet it covered the entire 10x10 frame. We had to send the lens and the camera to USGS every three years and spend 20 grand to have it calibrated to do work for the DOT of any state. The camera and the lens combination was almost 400 pounds. No it is a door stop for someone.

It was a Cessna 206 that was ordered new with a 24 inch hole in the floor. The camera mount had gyros to help keep it level and pointing down at all times. That 206 wore out 14 engines and is very high time airframe.
