Better to be lucky than good...
I recently had some minor work done on one of my other cars. I noticed damage a few hours after I got the car back. Shop manager agreed there was damage, and referred me to their insurance company. Insurance company tried to deny claim, saying that it was my word against the shop's. After a few exchanges, I dropped the bomb that I had photographed the car just before taking it to the shop (I took photos for a completely unrelated purpose). They immediately stopped arguing and paid the claim. Sheer luck.
The shop apparently agreed with me since they fired the tech before the claim process played out. It looks like just the insurance company was the real problem. I should have inspected the car very carefully before I left the shop. Another lesson learned. Without the photos, I am certain that I would have had to either: file a claim with my insurance company, which would have also given me the benefit of a lifetime warranty on the repair; or, failing that, gone to small claims. fil |

Glad that it worked out for you. Yep, sometimes/often it's better to be lucky than good.

I bought a CPO Boxster from a dealership. Closed the deal and went home to get my wife so she could drive my car home. I get back to the dealership, and we go out to take the car with the salesman. The bottom right side of the spoiler had a huge yellow gash across it. The person who take the car for final wash had clipped a parking block, and said nothing. Sales manager was livid. In this case, they just gave me a voucher to drop the car back off for paint correction. It painless. I went on to buy other cars using the CPO program, in part because of that positive experience.

had my 911 NYS inspected at a firestone and noticed a month later that they crushed the rocker panels on both sides with the lift. told them i drove it straight home and parked it. that was the truth and they believed me and they were nice about it and the insurance company accepted my demand but unfortunately the $ i asked for was too low.....was planning to do work myself but underestimated cost of everything. my fault. since then i only take it to a shop that specializes in porsche
