Apparently there is a feeling of stonewalling that is not being conveyed by the opening article and the Detroit Free Press article.

The below link includes additional details and even names.

7-year-old girl traumatized after White school staff member cuts her hair

Two days later, Jurnee walked in crying. Hoffmeyer, clearly shaken, discussed the look on his daughters face that day. “I don’t think there are words to express how I felt in that moment,” Hoffmeyer said. “I asked if the girl on the bus had cut her hair again, and she said, ‘no. My library teacher cut my hair.’ I couldn’t believe it. I jumped in the car to go to the school but realized it was spring break. I couldn’t get ahold of anyone, so I called the cops.” The library teacher, listed as a media specialist on the school’s website, is Kelly Mogg.................

Hoffmeyer continues to face stonewalling from the Mount Pleasant School District. He’s requested to see footage from the bus incident. He was told administrators had viewed it and there was really nothing for him to see. The “we know best” attitude towards this Black father mirrors the paternalistic White supremacy displayed by the staff who cut Jurnee’s hair.....................

Through the experience, the Hoffmeyer family hasn’t found any allies in the district. But once Jurnee’s story reached the National Parents Union, they leaned all the way in to help get #JusticeForJurnee. In a recent statement, NPU Director of Policy and Legislation said “No child should have to experience this type of humiliating ordeal because of their hair texture, style, or type! The adults entrusted with her learning crossed the line, didn’t protect her, and had no desire to be accountable for their actions.” NPU is currently seeking a civil rights attorney for the Hoffmeyer family. They have sent formal requests to the district for evidence from the incident.

In the meantime, Jurnee has switched schools and started going to counseling. “We’ve had to take her to the doctor because she hasn’t been eating. She’s having trouble sleeping now and always wants to be with us. All of this because her hair didn’t look how they thought it should, wasn’t done to their standards. If you look at pictures of her before this happened, you can just see her spark and her energy. Now it’s like it’s just gone.”

Can you offer anything more on this, like an article or something?

EDIT:

I was able to find this article below.

When hair breaks rules: Some black children are getting in trouble for natural hairstyles
In the past, "African-Americans often conformed through haircuts, wigs and relaxers," one lawyer said. "Now, more of us are choosing not to conform."

A high school wrestler was forced to cut his hair or forfeit a wrestling match in New Jersey.

A 6-year-old boy in Florida was turned away from a private Christian academy on his first day of school because his hair extended below his ears.

And a New Orleans-area girl was sent home at the start of the school year from a Catholic school for wearing braids.

All three of the children are black. All wore natural, chemical-free hairstyles. All three incidents were caught on video, drawing widespread attention and condemnation.

These are just a few instances of what civil rights advocates say is a growing problem of discrimination against African-Americans — adults at work as well as children at school — due to their hair.

Not conforming to rules at a private school is way different than a teacher cutting the hair of a kid without parent permission. My kids go to a Catholic school that has guidelines that apply to everybody with regards to appearance including hair, he has white friends that have been sent home for a haircut because they don’t comply with their rules. Sorry but that’s equality, you can’t have rules that apply to some races but not others. Claiming an “ethnic” hair style is race baiting BS. So is a mullet an ethnic hair style for white guys?

Seems possible the teacher didn't know the parents had it cut in an asymmetric style and was trying to even it out in a well meaning, but poor judgement kind of way. I'd be curious to hear the logic before jumping to conclusions. I wouldn't be surprised of the parents' outrage is becoming unnecessary trauma for the little girl. I'd be curious how she took it. Very possible she's better off out of that school.
That is my guess. Big mistake showing compassion or trying to help these days. The "asymmetric style " was probably assumed to be the work of the young girl herself or another child.

They would have done the same where/when I went to school...if they felt they could help a child with a botched hair cut from another kid.

^^^this^^^ Having rules/standards has become viewed as "racist" these days. Much like expecting identification to vote. Having lower expectation of those from certain races/groups is outright bigotry and benefits no one...especially members of that race/group.

The daughter asked for her hair to be cut by a fellow student, and then later by a librarian?

I would be interested in knowing the age of the teacher. Sadly in my experience young adults of today aren't up to standard, they are immature for their age.

Last week I was having a conversation with a friend of mine who is a local prosecutor. We were cleaning his wave runners in order to put them up for sale. Our kids are the same age 20. While cleaning the I asked doesn't your son want to ride these? He replied no this is real and would require going outside, everything he does is virtual.

Like me he and his son's mother are separated. His son was raised primarily by his mother a school teacher. He was the other weekend dad. I on the other hand fought the system and received fifty/fifty time, eventually obtaining custodial parent status.

While his son sat in front of a computer screen most days my daughter was with me cooking, riding horses, surfing, skiing, boating, travelling, etc. Doing real life things at least fifty percent of the time being challenged and taught to think and work through issues.

This brings me to an incident my friend had in court and explained during this conversation. It was a traffic accident. A young man around the same age as our kids was involved in a minor accident in which he was at fault. There was body cam of the kid freaking out and had to be restrained because his phone stopped working and he couldn't reach his brother to ask what to do? He was enraged that his phone had stopped working. This young man had no ability to think or work through a real life issue.

I think the teacher may fall into the same category as my friends son and the boy in the traffic stop. They lack critical thinking skills.

I don’t care about the circumstance, if you are a teacher or school employee and you cut the hair of a child without the explicit permission of the parent you are a moron and shouldn’t work there anymore.
