Man, I love Harbor Freight.
I still work on my cars on occasion. I was thinking of buying a QuickJack on sale at Costco but I just couldn’t part with the $1250. Off I go to HF for two pairs of 6 ton jack stands and a long reach, low profile jack. I used the 20% off coupon for the stands and got the jack on sale. I’m set for a fraction of the cost. I know some of you guys hate HF because they sell cheap Chinese sheet. The jack and stands look to be pretty good quality. Love me some HF.

They have lifetime warranty on their hand tools. Then I thought with exception to breaker bars, if you're using the right tools for a particular job, do they fail often?
I'm sure you can argue bending wrenches, stripping sockets etc...but assuming you use the right length, the torque applied shouldn't cause failure We just all need some simple physics lessons before using the wrong tool for the job Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk |

They are great for when you need a tool to complete a job you might not ever do again.

I'm a believer.
Have half a dozen $12 HF angle grinders with different HF bits plugged into a HF 6 way extension cord sitting on a HF 2 shelf cart so I can work on my car sitting on the HF scissor lift. |

Me too. I mean that. Mainly for one-off tools. However, I have plenty of core HF tools as well.
Advice for the kids, wrenches, sockets, ratchets, nut up and drop the long dollar for quality. The freight will work but it ain't the same as a used older set of Craftsman, or new/used SK, Snap-On, MATCO and probably a half dozen other good brands.

If you need your tools to make a living with its better to buy quality tools. For once in a while then hf fits the bill. I needed a large angle grinder to smooth out a floor for a hardwood install. I gambled on the cheap hf one. Dam thing would quit every ten seconds. Let it cool and ten seconds later it would quit again. I did get my money back and bought a dewalt that’s sitting on a shelf in the garage.

I started using HF tools when I was working on a chicken farm. No reason to take my garage tools there. Too much opportunity for loss. They mostly turned out to be pretty good tools. I left the farm 10 years ago and still have most of those tools. One exception is Chanel Locks. If you want good ones, get Chanel Lock brand.

I bought a 1/2 inch air impact last year. It breaks loose the lug nuts on my Tahoe with ease on the middle setting no less. We're talking 140 pound torque setting.
I also bought wheel dollies for $45 a pair. I store my car in the winter and these dollies move the car around with no effort. My only problem now is I can't visit HF until the border re-opens

Thanks for the heads up. I watched a couple of YouTube’s and now know which HF stands to avoid. I don’t think they sell that model anymore.

Speaking of Harbor Freight, what do you guys think of this?
It says that it is compatible with almost all OBDII cars, can be used to turn components on and off, remote bleed the ABS brakes, burn keys, etc etc. https://www.harborfreight.com/zr-pro-professional-automotive-scanner-64576.html?cid=paid_google|||64576&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=&utm_content=&gclid=CjwKCAjwvtX0BRAFEiwAGWJyZFKjHJ7YgDKSOjuuei3-dupIw7JS4ullcBw0zS5tdC5iidAM4lrIARoCwskQAvD_BwE |

Absolutely look at the welds on your stands!!! I had a 6 ton stand fail on me seconds after me and my son got out from under! I had my lx450 up on all fours and one weld failed on the retainer location, truck came down and the low profile jack pad tore through the oil pan. Pulled off the pan and welded it up when I stopped shaking. Its good I had the tires under there. Now I use lift bars for the 928 and I use HF 12 ton stands, man these are beefy and at mid way they get stuff up high.

I have bought Wet Vacs to Mitre Saws, pneumatic tools to Air Compressors, etc, etc at Harbor Freight and I have yet to have anything fail on me or not do the job intended. You cannot beat the selection and prices and that GREAT 20% off any item coupon!!!!!

I have a HF less than 2 miles from my house, its dangerous. I'm in there all the time and buy a fair bit of stuff from them from tools to sand paper. if you monitor quality they have come a long way since the early 2000s.

I'm more of a Northern Tools guy. HF doesn't do much for me.

Northern is great but I have no store within 150 miles of here. They need to expand.

I cover my eyes and cower in fear when I have to drive by my local HF.
When I weaken and enter the gates of he11, it’s the only store I automatically grab a cart and walk down each isle in both directions. Sometimes twice. |
