It is a shame. Feel bad for NC State.
Going into the tournament each player and team knew the covid protocols that would be in place. Vaccinated players, coaches, staff would not be tested unless they displayed symptoms. Unvaccinated players, coaches, staff would be tested every day, symptoms or not. I have not heard if they got caught due to symptoms in vaccinated or unvaccinated players or undeclared vaccinated/unvaccinated players in the every other day test protocol. I don't necessarily like the protocols that were in place, but they knew the protocols in advance and the possible impact. We may never know the answer due to HIPAA information restrictions. Players can speak out if they wish, some may. |
NCAA does all it can for VD! Who to pull for now is any team playing VD...

From what I hear, 2 of the unvaccinated players/staff tested positive. So they then tested the vaccinated players/staff and found 4 of that group that were positive. Looking back in the history of this pandemic and the NCAA, prior to any vaccine, Clemson's Quarterback Trevor Lawrence once tested positive. They had him sit out of the upcoming game but didn't disqualify the entire team. And if I remember correctly, they even let Lawrence roam the sidelines of the game wearing a mask. May the record books indicate for all the glorious history of the NCAA, this 2021 NCAA Baseball Championship team, whoever it may be, will be anointed with an asterisk and a footnote explaining how they got there. |

Sad to hear NC State had to drop out, good to hear MSU is in the final. Vandy will sweep the series. On one side you have brains, the other side wipes with corn cobs. J/K. I hope it is a good series.

Thanks Baz!
Exciting game with Texas tonight. We had our best pitchers on hand for the task. Our batting was just enough as usual to get the win. I should be thrilled. But oddly, after 50+ years as a loyal died in the wool MSU fan and alum, where the wins in the really big games come....well......rarely if ever......I just can't seem to get excited over the next few days. I'm still really pissed off about the way the NCAA handled the NC State team and simply gave Vandy a pass to the Championship. And now that my team is the other contender to this (obviously tainted in my opinion) championship, it kind of feels like going on a blind date arranged by your mother only to find out it's a girl that has already turned you down 3 times in the last 6 months. (NOT that that had ever happened to me!) And as for yourself Matt, welcome to the thread, Baz and I expect you to participate during the upcoming SEC football season.....but please refrain from being a counterfeit Gator fan and calling in to Gator Radio when they are doing bad this year......! |
I have ties all around the sec. Good sports, always has been. I wasn't late for the party.
I live in Longhorn country, I'm loving the win by MSU. |
Hey Matt - I think that last part by SCadaddle was meant to be in green font! All good, my man.
Now SCadaddle.....why don't you get all your fans to form a cluster around the whistler and drown his sorry azz out with cowbells! :D |
I'm a Gator fan too, granda was a marine biology professor at UF, my mother grew up in Gainesville. Uncle ran track for UF in the 60's. Parents both graduated from Vandy, as well one of my brothers. I attended Ole Miss, but not for long. Young and dumb.

I can only hope Dr. Fraudci is pitching tomorrow night....

I thought Sims did a great job pitching for State in relief.
As did Quintanilla for Texas. Until he hit Clark in the foot. So that "HBP" batter, who was granted first, started the whole thing. But credit State for putting in their fleet-footed Skinner. And credit Skinner for stealing second. And lastly credit Leggett for getting the single that brought Skinner home. Man what a finish to the game. Respect to Texas for getting this far and giving State a game and a half! |

Yeah Baz, I have no idea why my MS State team opened the series with our absolutely worst pitcher of our staff. As my Dad, MSU Class of '43 would say, "He can't hit a bull in the ass with a bass fiddle!" So we "spotted" them 7 runs in the bottom of the first inning, 6 of them with our opener. We did set a new College World Series record: First pitcher to not last the first inning.
Other than that, Bulldogs win 2-1! :D Should be interesting to see how tonight turns out. Hail State! Go Dogs! |
13-1 with 2 innings to go.
Hail State! :D |
Hey hey hey! Bulldogs put a beat down on Vandy 13-2!
Should be a good game 3.......IF........my team doesn't all test positive for Covid in the middle of the night! HAIL STATE! GO DOGS! GO TO HELL OLE MISS! |
