Congrats, SCadaddle! What a game! Total domination! Hail State, my friend!

What a dick move though to lay down a bunt with the last at bat in a 9-0 game......

Congratulations Mississippi State!

It's about time, 1st National Championship in school history! Congrats to the Bulldogs!
I can root for them too, you see, my uncle, may he RIP, played under Darrell Royal at MSU. Darrell didn't coach at MSU long. However, my uncle told me a story about surprising him at the local country club in Austin. This was in the early 90's. Darrell was in the locker room with his guests when my uncle came up from behind. Darrell couldn't see him, and my uncle made sure he couldn't, He said how have you been coach? He said good, who is it? Guess? Did you play for me at Texas, my uncle said, before that coach, at MSU. Darrell said "Red, is that you"? Yep. Anyway, it's always good to see a well deserved sec team grab a national title. Way to go MSU! |
I spent 2 semesters at MSU in fall of '82 spring '83. That was tough.

The Bank is back at it again, Baz. This time it's Ole Miss' turn!

Been a few weeks since my Mississippi State Bulldogs won the baseball National Championship. And as much as I would have loved being in Omaha for the games, that wasn't in the cards so like many of you I watched it on my TV. Well, almost.....
In a last minute "we got a problem" type of deal, I found myself on the road through lower Mississippi and Alabama during the final game. Over the course of nearly the first 3 hours on the road I had one hand on the wheel and another on the search/seek button of the car radio. I could almost hear the game amongst the static. The biggest game in school history and I can't find a radio station anywhere to listen to it?! I realize southern Mississippi is all about the University of Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles (aka "Mustard Buzzards!") but come on! Somewhere around Moss Point on the coast, I eyed that charger plug in the cigarette lighter with cable connected to the girlfriends I phone. Nah, couldn't be. But perhaps.....and now with the I phone no longer charging I had the game on the radio clear as a bell. At least until I turned off Hwy 90 at Grand Bay and began cruising down the 2 lane highway under the live oaks. Now Charlie Daniels would be proud; I was making good time on my trip to LA. (Lower Alabama, THE Redneck Riviera) The final 2 innings of the game I did get to watch on TV, from my seat in a small seafood restaurant in Bayou La Batre Alabama. Well, first they had to find the remote to the TV. Then they had to find the channel. Bingo baby. There's my Dogs on the TV! I can pretty much say that nobody in that restaurant had a clue who was playing in the college world series. If it wasn't BAMA, they weren't interested. I had a dinner that couldn't be beat, we won the game and I even pointed out to the waitress and the owner that the life size Dr. Pepper cardboard cut out of Nick Saban in the corner was pointing at the TV. "See there! Ole Nick knows who THE baseball team of the SEC, and now the Nation is!" I guess it's a memory of the game that I'll have for a long time. Much better than being on the couch....."Life is like a box of chocolates" and me and my "Jenny" got to see my team win it all in the home of Forrest Gump. And as a tip of the hat to ole Charlie, I watched my team win in Omaha via LA. Hail State! Go Dogs! |
Oklahoma and Texas come a knocking.

The money is a good driver for OU and UT but they better plan on taking more losses than usual making this move. Not every SEC team is Vandy. |
