Dog pee on a wool rug

Has anyone ever successfully gotten the smell of dog pee out of a wool rug? Owen Walter will pee on the table and chair legs if we don't jump out of bed an throw him outside the minute he wakes up. There is almost no smell in the winter when the humidity is low, but now that it's spring - ughhhh!
What should we do, burn it and get a linoleum rug?

Take it to a rug cleaning shop.

And install a dog door so that he’s free to exit and enter as nature calls...assuming you have a fenced area.

There's some stuff called "Nature's Miracle" that's supposed to help. I don't know how much stock I put into it, but thought that I'd let you know.

that company should make housepaint, because I have coated an entire room with the stuff. I had a Terrier that hated us for the first year and would make it known. he finally got with the program and is one of my fondest dog relationships I can remember. I loved that guy.

bottomline, I don't think Natures Miracle works.

I would take that rug out into the yard on a super sunny day and pressure wash it. and hit it with a brush with laundry detergent and pressure wash it again. hail mary time!

Then beat it with a stick for a few minutes.

He'll repeat because even if you clean well enough for you to not snell it he still can and that's his indoor spot now. Take the rug to a professional cleaner. If there's padding under the rug, replace it. Installing a dog door is your only solution to the problem

it's his carpet now..
just a matter of where you put it outside....
trash or grass..
the table base & chairs are ????
wood floors will also soak it up..
I'd get out now..
dog door if possible..
otherwise kennel / crate..

Good lord, out here if we put in a dog door the possums and 'coons would be in the house snacking in the pantry and pissing on the rug all night.

1990C4S is correct. It just needs a mild soap and lots of water. Professionals clean expensive hand-knotted wool rugs with mild soap like Ivory. One professional said he just brought them out to his driveway, laid them out in the sun, soaked it with the garden hose and used bar after bar of Ivory, sudsing and rinsing until it was clean.

We have two dogs to prevent any intruders. In the 22 years we have had the doggy door, no critters have attempted a breach.

Our dachshunds have chased off the mastadons, buffalo, dire wolves and werewolves and vampires. Anyone walking their dog in front of our house and all other critters in the area.

Hey Patrick........just to cover all bases....

In older dogs it's not uncommon for problems to arise in their urinary tract. A Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) being the most common.

One of the symptoms is inability to hold their urine.

Whether or not Owens Walter is experiencing any of this - might be worth considering a supplement such as this one (and there are many others). Just read the reviews and you'll learn more about it's benefits.

Burn it. Warn the dog he's next if he keeps peeing on your stuff.

Be glad he's not a cat. you NEVER get that smell out. Had to throw away an almost new sectional couch because a cat peed on it. And yes, cat went bye bye, too.

They make dog doors with magnetic locks. Collar on your dog is the key. Works very well.

We use the advanced formula version of this, and it works ok. We haven't tried the urine specific stuff they have.
