Ordered another motorbike
Put some money down on the new CRF300L Rally. Might be next year before I get one but hey, I'm on the list! Pretty excited about this one. Seems to tick lots of boxes.

Looks like a great bike. But my need for instant gratification would never allow me to order something I can’t get within just a few days.

I hear ya. I'm basically the same but do have another bike so I can wait...this time.

What makes this one more desirable than your Africa Twin, Eric?

The AT is great, albeit heavy. I'll use it for long adv rides, forest service roads and the less gnarly stuff. The 300 is 200lbs lighter and much more nimble for the rougher stuff. That's my rationale anyway.

I can see the logic in a CRF300L. I was tempted to buy a CRF450L but it was so tall. there is no way I could manage tight slow trails on it because I wouldn't be able to put my feet down properly - and I'm quite tall.
Hehe, I may have a look at them too as I'm a Honda fan. |

The only nit I have heard, and maybe the new ones are better, is that first gear is really, really short.

I had a Honda transalp for many years and absolutely loved it, probably the one bike I never should have sold.
I can see this being similar to the transalp but lighter. I rode that transalp places I never would have thought I could have off road. I now have a CRF450X and dont love it. Too much power for trail riding and overheats even with bigger rads when riding with my kids.

I recently picked up a 1992 Honda XR 250L for putting around the back roads in the foothills. It's a good fit for me now.

Ha, the world's most reliable bike. Regular oil changes and don't thrash 'em when they're cold, lasts 20 years before needing any work. Love them.

I would buy another XR-650L in a heartbeat! I wish the guy in the truck didn't take me out!

My son, and I had matching XR200s for a long time, he now has a new Ninja 600, and I have a KLR250.
I have always loved the Hondas though, both kids learned how to ride on a 1985 Honda 125 ATC, and I wish I still had it. |
