Installed two appliances yesterday with no issues- a first 😊
Hello everyone hope all is well . Yesterday was a first for me at least for quite a while . My wife wanted a new over the range microwave and new gas cooktop . Nothing wrong with the old ones but these are the only two we haven't replaced since buying the home four years ago .
We live in a small rural town so buying locally is tough . Ended up ordering sight unseen from a large box store . Order/delivering tracking was 100 % accurate and arrived yesterday . Started the project at 10:00 AM and finished by 2:00 . I had no issues ......... None ! Removal of the old appliances went as expected with no damage or issues . New appliances fit perfect with just two new holes drilled for the microwave . Gas cooktop had to be converted to LP and was supplied with directions and jets to do so . This is the first project in quite a while that went exactly as planned . I generally have at least one extra run to a store to complete an install . My wife is happy so life is good 😁 . So for all of us DIYers there is hope that a project might go as planned .

Picked up a cv boot kit at the auto parts store yesterday. When I got home to install it there weren’t any clamps. Back to the store to get two clamps. Back home and opened the instructions that read... clamps provided. Back to the parts store for a defund on the clamps I paid for and to get the proper clamps that should have box. More driving then working.

I rarely leave a parts store parking lot without opening the packages and inspecting . Five minutes in the parking lot can save frustration/wasted time and $$$ .

The granite countertop is a color called Verde Uba Tuba . It's a color I picked out vs two other colors my wife picked out . For whatever reason she decided to go with my suggestion and we both love it . She stated the day it was installed that my choice was the best 😊.......... but I didn't get that in writing 🙁 so it's kind of like a tree falling in the forrest . It's all good 😊

Looks great! I love those counter tops.
Yesterday I installed our new washing machine, a Speed Queen. Pretty uneventful, heavy sob, dolly and 2 grown men to move it into the garage. Got it level, hooked up the water and plugged it in. Worse part was leveling it by myself. Thank goodness for 2x4's.

^^^ Anytime you can install a washing machine/dishwasher/water heater and there are no leaks that's a win in my book 😁

G'day!
|
Congrats and well done, Rick!
Appliances can certainly be challenging. I have changed out and/or repaired most of those in my home during my soon to be 25 years of ownership. Everything is electric here. I bought my microwave in 1991 while living in Naples, and it's still working fine. Analog too! Thanks for sharing your success story with us. Home improvement is an ongoing adventure for all of us but the rewards are always worth the effort!
