I've seen folks talk about small of the back carry and the frequently posed "con" is that it could be painful at best or dangerous at worst if you were to fall with a spoon jammed into your spine.

I think the spinal injury aspect could be mitigated with good holster design but that the result would be a pretty substantial and inflexible holster.

In all seriousness, this has proven to be possibly the worst place one can carry a defensive sidearm. Lots of discussion in the shooting world regarding this. Access is the biggest issue - darn near impossible when sitting, like in a restaurant. Impossible in a car, assuming you can even bear sitting in one like that. Even when standing, it takes both hands, and lots of movement that looks really unnatural and draws a lot of attention.
