Jack Olsen - Black Beauty - Garage
Haven't seen Jack post lately, but when he was constantly active, I did enjoy his posts and what he did to both of his cars. Here is a cool video that was just released:

Yep, watched it this morning.
We need to talk Jack into writing a book. If Stephan W can write "The Gold Plated Porsche" then I'm sure Jack can manage something interesting. He may need a ghost writer though. ![]() ![]()

He could write it as a screen play.

Interesting video and I am sorry I never got to see Jack do any vintage racing back when I had my 914-6. We have a two car garage and it is sort of amazing how they "morph" into what you'll need them to be. When we moved into the house in 1980 there was the water heater, heater, work bench against the back wall and 24 inch shelves along part of the left wall. We parked the little Toyota sedan and 1973 VW Bus INSIDE! Then they moved out when the 1987 Porsche 930 moved in. Now I still have the bench against the back wall, but a movable reloading bench along with a huge gun safe in the right side, drill press, two welders, air compressor, spare frig/freezer and a 3 in 1 lathe/mill/drill press that can be moved if necessary on huge locking casters. The last thing I did was to replace all the 48 inch shop lights with 48 inch dual LEDs and it is much brighter and uses less power.

One of my favorite builds and I love the fact that he actually drives and enjoys his car. Can’t say that about many 911 owners. If I could afford it, I’d do exactly the same thing.

Hope he's doing well.

Neat videos, he reminds me of myself in the way we think, and tackle prototype DIY projects.

I never realized the lift is industrial grade. I like the hand wash area and the little glass box for stuff. I doubt I'd keep keys there but it's a neat idea.

I noticed the credits. Producer, director, editor, etc. That I don't understand. I know this video was made up from clips from previous videos so it was some work to put out. Maybe that's what it takes to post on Petrolicious.
Anyway, Jack does pretty well on his own. |

Thanks, guys.
This clip was originally shot by Sean Fannin back in April of 2018, and initially it was only available behind the Petrolicious paywall. Now, I think the company has changed ownership and the decision's been made to re-release it. I don't think they did much to promote it, this time around. No one told me about it coming out, for instance. But I'm happy to see it come out. And I'm still checking the board here, and enjoying the 911 when I can. I'm going to be out at Willow Springs next week, my first time out since getting vaccinated. During the pandemic, my kids and I took up sailing as a hobby. And that's led to a couple of boats finding their way to the Olsen house. The newer of the two simply won't fit in the garage, but that hasn't stopped me from working on it in there. ![]() Here's a video of our first shakedown run for the new boat, which is a Mariner 19 -- a design which (like the 911) dates back to 1963, and is still in production. https://youtu.be/KvfkCCIe-lo I can't say I love sailing in the way I love the 911. But it's not terrible -- and it's a way to spend time with the kids, so I'll take as much of it as I can get. Still, I'm a car guy. And one part of the appeal of bringing this particular boat to California was the travel required -- 3,200 miles over three days on the road. I really enjoy long solo drives. https://youtu.be/yv3PKCYBKOY

I can't open the video links for some reason, but anyhoo...
Very nice looking boat!!! I would like to hear more about your boats and see more pics!!! I learned to sail when I was 10 years old, got away from it most of my adult life and recently picked it back up a few years ago with a Hobie 16!!! There is nothing like the freedom of sailing, only being powered by the wind is just a feeling of complete tranquility for me!!! Hope that you enjoy the sport of sailing for many years. Fair winds and following seas!!! ...just the wind and a dream to carry me, soon I will be free... Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
