ANOM - World wide sting

--- Not the sharpest knives in the draw...

An app that was "developed" by your FBI and our Federal Police has lead to a world wide sting!

Here's a brief video on what Anon is and how it was used.

This video gives you a general rundown of what happened but it was made by an amateur.

That’s pretty amazing, and I hadn’t heard about it. Thanks!

There is no way WhatsApp, KIK and all those messaging apps are not being monitored as well…..

Interesting, thank you for sharing.

Probably not to the same extent as an app created by the PoPo specifically for the purpose.

The average LE agency doesn't have the time or resources to monitor everything. They have to be more focused.

I laughed my head off seeing how these disgusting individuals have been caught.

And it's interesting to see who is involved...

One cocaine trafficker texted another photographs to prove he could ship the drug from Bogota using the French embassy's protected diplomatic pouch, two kilograms at a time.

Reminds me of how at the advent of cell phones, the idea that frequency hopping prevented monitoring led the Columbian drug cartels to openly talk on "secure" cell transmissions that were happily fully monitored by US government agencies such as the NSA. Part of what led to Escobar going down I believe.

Freq hopping is good, but it's not all that hard to overcome. Need encryption, too, in order to really be protected.

Meanwhile this happened and the Australian Federal Police were involved with the bust so this may be part of the same sting.

The ANOM thing reminds me of those sting operations to get people that skipped bail by sending them some postcard that says "You won a free cruise, just show up to the Holiday Inn this Saturday at 9am to claim your prize!!!"

and they do

About 30 years ago there was a murder solved in Melbourne Australia using mobile phone data. That was a first for Australia.
Since then they're have been multiple crimes solved in Australia using the same method.

Then suddenly "Here's a secure phone" AND THEY USED IT! Freekin idiots all of them.

some decades back, I was invited to join a militia. I replied that I didn't want to get that close to a federal agent. His expression made me wonder if he was a federal agent.

In the early 90's I worked for our SIS (Security Intelligence Service) with highest level security clearance. I was approached by a very beautiful woman at a party who said "I believe you work for the SIS, my brother is with a peace organisation and I'd like to get some information from you."

I thought it was a trap and laughed it off saying I don't know anything that he would want to know. BUT what I should have said to her was spend the night with me and I'll tell you everything I know in the morning. In the morning I would say "And we're having our Christmas party at the White Swann, Nancy is the lady who looks after the photocopiers, my cat is white and fluffy..."

Wow, you weren't kidding. I dont have any Apple products but I just got a emergency email from my company about critical updates to Apple users that need to happen ASAP.

Emergency emails at my company are pretty rare and only happen with the you-know-what is about to hit the fan, so it must be serious!

Nothing new.

Back in the day when Sat dish service hacking was all the rage they were busting sites that sold card readers / writers and other gear specifically designed for low tech people who couldn't build their own.

They gave the site owners a plea deal if they'd hand over the sites then they continued to run them and busted a ton of consumers.

Learn how to solder and do at least some low level coding on your own.

People engaged in criminal enterprises will feed your ass to the wolves every time to save their own necks.
