My skin is getting really thin with age. I haven’t had a road crash in many years but I dread the next one. I wear gloves in the garage which helps.

I was in HD last week...bumped my shin against a cart that I was pushing.
Never noticed any pain or difference.
At the checkout...the gal said "you're bleeding" I looked down and my shin had a red streak down to my socks.

I also think it might just be old age.

It happens to me sometimes. Strange that a seemingly small scratch can bleed so much.

Go see a good doctor bud !

Is it safe for people with low platelets or ITP, or platelet function disorders to receive the COVID vaccine?

For those with pre-existing ITP (even if you don’t take medicine for your ITP and even if your platelet count is normal), consult your hematologist and obtain a platelet count prior to vaccination. Your hematologist may advise you as to whether and when your platelet count should be checked after the first and/or second vaccination in addition to the baseline value.

Patients with low platelet disorders like ITP should take extra precautions when receiving the vaccine to prevent hematoma formation. A fine gauge needle (25 or 27 gauge) should be used for the vaccination, followed by pressure on the site, without rubbing, for at 10 minutes.

For persons with other low platelet disorders or platelet function disorders (like Glanzmann thrombasthenia, Hermansky Pudlak syndrome, Grey Platelet syndrome), the recommendations for preparing for the vaccine may be similar or identical as those for persons with ITP. Persons with other platelet disorders should also consult with their hematologist prior to receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

For persons with platelet disorders caused by medications (such as aspirin, clopidogrel, ticagrelor), follow the recommendations for persons with platelet function disorders (above). Always consult your hematologist or cardiologist for advice on how best to prepare for the COVID-19 vaccine.

If I remember right....there was quite a lengthy questionnaire that I completed before receiving either of the Covid vacs.

I take no meds and have no blood disorders.

Same here. I’m amazed that I’m leaking red fluids and don’t realize it. Working on cars, airplanes and building houses, my arms are all scarred up. My son calls them manly arms.

I ain't no doctor, but if you are bleeding "easy" as you claim, it could be cancer or your are anemic. Good luck!

^^^ It's mostly from my knees down that it seems to bleed easily....esp the shin area.
I am thin, so maybe it's just a case of thin, stretched skin.
I weighed myself this morning...148 lbs.

Wear cycling shorts that go past the knee and long sleeves

Knees down is where you take the shrapnel. The rest of you could be the same?

Get blood "numbers" checked as 944 suggests.

None of those...except the headaches from the covid shot. And no headaches before.
The easy bleeding has been there for at least 10 years.

During my bike/car accident that resulted in Intermedullary Nailing, they did extensive blood work. They reported back that all was normal. That was 3 years ago.
My left leg has a rod inside the bone due to that...from hip to knee....but both legs have the easy bleeding.

That's part of aging...our skin gets thinner and lose collagen. That's part of life. I notice my skin rips easier and bleeds but heal well so far. As for your legs...well the shin bone is right at the front so there's no cushion hence easier to injure your lower legs from walking into things.

edit...just saw your posting above...I'm glad your femur healed up!

^^^ That's prob what I'll chalk it up to.
I don't have a lot of skin/cushion in that area to begin with.
And also...I might be not as aware of Niking/nickin things like I was 20 years ago.

A big cause for me...kicking the bike pedals backwards to get the right foot up. If it hits my shin...there is blood every time.
