What to do with fencing?
Just moved into my new house recently and of course have lots of projects to tackle.. One of them is removing a fence. Long story but the original owner of the house built a nice wooden 6ft tall fence all the way around the backyard and then found out that he built it almost 12 feet INSIDE of of the property line on one side. The neighbor on that side has since built their own fence and so now i have a 12 feet wide section of yard that I can't get to because its inside both fences.. So I want to take the fence down on my side but what do i do with 100 ft of nice wooden fence? Is there a market for that? Put it in FB marketplace or something? And where the heck would I haul all the away to if nobody wants it?

Someone will buy it. If I lived a little closer... (Well, less than 8,000 miles LOL)
And don't sell it too cheaply. Fences are expensive things if you actually have to pay. |

No need to burn. You'll need a fence to keep all the buyers out.

If you were closer than 6 hours away I could use 100' of fence paneling...
Assuming it is in good shape, pop it on craigslist it can go quick, esp. considering current lumber prices |

Put a gate in it and have a 12' wide garden or outdoor mancave?

This. Put in a wide gate, and put down gravel and you have an instant cheap place to park a boat, trailer, project car or whatever.

Yes, you could have a whole row of broken down cars, scrap building materials, marajuana plants, future projects - and claim it's not yours, it's the neighbour's.

12' semi-enclosed is golden in LA. Out here, someone will build an ADU and charge another 2500 bucks a months

How is that put together Marc?
Is it nailed or screwed? And what does the other side of it look like? Is the neighbors fence nice looking on your side?

its nailed together and you can see the 9ft tall white PVC fence from the neighbor in one of the pictures. Other side looks the same but just doesn't have the upper and lower cross pieces.. the area in between the two fences has grown over and is covered in ivy and limbs, small bushes etc..
Just wondering what you guys think it's worth for an asking price? A contractor friend told me maybe $200 if they take it down also, but I have no clue if thats about right or not.

sell to some hipster who want old wood look for their micro-brewery - that'd be the high price
try an ad which includes the word "patina" and see if there are any bites |

My observations from out here in CA are these.
Your yard will expand if you remove it. Your yard will also change character as going to a white fence from what you have will be quite a change IMO. You could easily get rid of it saying 'You take it down, you haul it away, it's yours.' I would consider cleaning up the in-between part before you take it down so you don't have to live with looking at it until it's done. That way you could do parts at a time and not have an all at once type thing going on. Taking it down and cleaning up the boards (removing old nails etc) for use later is going to take some effort. Who puts in that effort will/should be reflected in the price you get for it.
