Thanks Anthony, I appreciate it. I'm going to try to get it running properly with the Weber first and if that doesn't work, move on to CIS.
And who knows, torque steer aside, a modern 150 hp VW motor in this 1900 lb car would be tons of fun as a 2022 project.

Of course, I haven't looked under the hood of one in 25+ years. My first race car was a '82 rabbit diesel, converted to gas, CIS with a 1.7 out of a Dodge Omni. |

Fast forward to today, my son has an 89 MK2 Diesel Jetta (full cool mods) and it has a cammed ABA with tune/headers/TT Exhaust etc in it... Fun car to drive, and a great first car for him. He will be buying our 400hp MK6 shortly when he turns 19 and moving his Mk2 along to a new driver/VW enthusiast. Swap away Shaun, fun cars.

A 1980 will be an easy install/swap back to the OE setup. The 75 an 76 carb'd did not have tank lines for recirculating fuel.

Hey Buddy, no, I still have to drive to CO to get it. Working on timing that around Parade.
That's a tasty little morsel you have there.

So, back in the day, I had a '75 Scirocco. Those early ones came with a carb set up for EPA and were Dogs. The hot tip was to go with a Holley Carb. off a same year Dodge Omni or Plymouth Horizon. I did a $25 junk yard swap, re-jetted and had a rocket. Don't be afraid of the Weber.
