Karma, it’s a b!tch.

A road-rage incident in Texas turned deadly when a motorcyclist pulled a gun — only to be shot by the other driver in what authorities are treating as an act of self-defence, according to reports.

The fatal chain of events unfolded last Friday on the I-35 highway in Fort Worth, when the biker, 19-year-old JaDerek Gray, was weaving his way between rows of vehicles, an illegal manoeuvre that’s known as “lane-splitting,” Fox4 said.

At one point, an unidentified SUV driver began changing lanes, forcing Gray to swerve to avoid a collision, CBS DFW said. Gray passed several cars and parked his motorcycle, blocking the northbound traffic — then reportedly began walking back toward the SUV while pointing a handgun at the driver.

The SUV driver told Gray to put down the gun because there were kids in his car. But the biker kept coming, so the other man drew his own handgun and opened fire, hitting Gray multiple times, according to reports.

Texas sounds awesome.

That's self defence for ya.

EVERYONE has the right to self defence.

Play stupid games...

Even in Australia the risk in road rage is that the other driver / rider may be iced-up to the eyeballs so discretion & extraditing yourself from the threat is always the best option. Add in the abundance of firearms in the US and engaging in road rage is an even less rational decision. What the heck was the kawasaki rider trying to achieve here? I rode a motorbike daily for 10 years, my preferred option to a-hole (or ignorant) drivers was always to just disappear into the distance........

Two were playing.... any driver that swerves, etc. to block a cyclist is also an idiot regardless of what the biker is doing. Just my .02 ...

I didn’t necessarily read it as the SUV did it on purpose. If lane splitting is illegal, makes sense the driver didn’t anticipate a motorcycle bring in that spot.

I don’t understand when he exited his vehicle to shoot.

Texas is extremely lenient on self defense claims. If you get out of your car to confront another driver without a gun in your hand and the other driver shoots you dead, they’re likely to get off.

What? The other driver changed lanes, he was not swerving to intentionally hinder JaDouchebag.
Where did you read that he did?

I was "reading between the lanes" ;). I wasn't there, but envisioned two (or more) lanes of traffic at a crawl. Lane splitting is perfectly legal in some places btw but that's beside the point. If the truck was "just changing lanes", that would be one plausible scenario, but the motorcycle didn't just appear out of thin air, and he might have been just a lousy driver that wasn't paying attention. Another plausible scenario .... the truck driver saw him coming and pulled a dickhead move to cut him off. In that scenario.... two people playing stoopid games with lethal weapons.

I've seen motorists attempt to block other cars, etc. a bunch of times... so just speculation on my part.

Some people are wound a little too tight!

Florida man says...."Motorcycle road rage, huh? Hold my beer!"

Riding lawn mower incident leads to deadly shooting in Lake County, deputies say

According to deputies, the victim stated he was driving behind the suspect who was on a riding lawn mower.

The victim told deputies the suspect stopped the lawn mower, came to the driver’s side window, and began striking the victim in the face and tried to pull him out of the car.

The victim told deputies that he shot the suspect in self-defense.

Deputies said 52-year-old Charles Matthews was pronounced dead at the scene.

(this takes "Get Off My Lawn" to a whole new level!)

Geronimo '74 07-04-2021 04:54 AM

KC,

I agree, all those scenarios are possible.
But I didn’t infer that from the article.
I reckon that if there was some form of foul play from the other driver, witness reports would reflect that, and so would the article.
I could be wrong though.

KFC911 07-04-2021 04:57 AM

I didn't even read the article before my first post ;).

Happy 4th all :)!

Just Americans settling minor disputes with guns, predictable result. Happens everyday, nothing to see...move along.

The "I was afeared!" defense.

Putting aside all the conjecture and made up facts that weren't reported;

A guy walks toward a car with his gun drawn. The driver defends himself and kills the assailant. I call this a win for the Second Amendment and now the woke progressives will come up with 100 reasons why we need to ban guns or there was racial prejudice...

In the meantime, I love events with happy endings.
