Lotus Emira

Many new release videos on youtube about this car yesterday.

I really like it. I dont love the wheels or the ipad stuck to the dash. I still prefer the Cayman/Boxer 4.0 but I would consider buying one of these with a manual....every time one of the videos mentioned that this is Lotus' last petrol engine..i get a little depressed. hard to believe i lived long enough to see real cars disappear

Lotus...if taller than 5' 10", forget about it...

(edit) Otherwise? Beautiful eye candy.

Two things, the gimmicky door handles and they could have integrated that screen much better.

i dont mind the door handles. The 992 has gimmicky handles as well that people dont like. I think if they work and wont become a problem, then im ok with them.

Porsche continues to integrate electronic screens better than anyone in my opinion

Everything about it seems pretty cool, esp. the manual.
Even the price seems reasonable.
I think it looks great, and to me looks like possibly the best and most exciting sports car to come out in at least 20 years.
(But, alas I guess I’m too old for that now, after 40 years of sports cars it’s not something I’d want to drive around regularly.)

The Pacifica minivan does well also.

They are a great road trip with the family vehicle. the screen is well integrated and easy to reach and responsive. I dislike all the screens that look like an afterthought. Not many do it right any more.

The Cayman, 911 and Cayenne all do it well.

For the Lotus, wheels are an easy change.

Quite a reaction to a Pacifica minivan!

Hmm.

I drove the Ferrari F8 press car last year, and they got it right with not placing massive screens.

It makes a difference in the driver's seat, makes it more a driver's car, and less a computer game.
I'll use my computer for computer games, and my car for driving.

Still, it is a fraction of the price of the Ferrari, and comes in a manual.
I wonder how long the production run will be.

Harry of Harry’s Garage has a vid of the launch. near the end he has a closer (but short) look at a manual car

I was thinking the same thing

I feel like a sardine in a Miata and I suspect any Lotus would be the same

The fit and finish, especially on the inside of a Lotus is rather basic compared to a Porsche Cayman, and that's fine for a pure track toy, but I could never live with it.

I like my 2007 Cayman for it's ability to do it all, track, daily, travel, and be elegant and refined when it has to... It doesn't feel like a glorified kit car, like a Lotus of the same vintage does
