This crazy heat wave has melted much of the ice already :(
We usually get what we refer to as a January thaw which would bring temps between 35 and 40 but this is ridiculous.
I hope it gets cold enough from now on to kill off tick nymphs and other hibernating pests.

There's a lot of open water beneath the mist

I think of it as Tom Jones' locker.

Yesterday I bought a used bandsaw from a guy at the other end of the Valley. Since he had been posted at various locations in the western Valley before he retired, (RCMP), it turned out we knew some of the same people. He mentioned his wife was from Wolfville. I asked her maiden name and, when he told me, another piece fell into place. He had married a sister of an old friend from university days.
When I worked in tourism I used to tell folks, "Welcome to Nova Scotia. If you're talking to someone you don't know, be careful: you might be related to them. "

Best
Les

I'm frequently amazed by how often the "6 degrees of separation" phenomenon occurs.

Small world. But I wouldn't want to paint it.

It's easier to put on a pair of slippers than it is to try and carpet the world.

One of my favorite SNL skits. Al's comedy is terrific!

Deep Thoughts with Jack Handy was also great stuff.

Yep, you can buy pallets of stuff from Amazon. If you're a hard worker, I can see it maybe working out, but it sounds like a huge PITA to me.

I think you can do the same from places like HD for returned power tools.

The stupidity of people should not, but does continue to amaze me.

Under the story in the link that you posted was this headline.

"Rapper Flo Rida accused Celsius — which Doja Cat called 'Flo Rida's energy drink' — of stiffing him on stock options and bonuses"

made me chuckle. "Flo Rida" Really?

No one's fame name will ever over shadow Rip Torn.

I would have waited for cement truck rolling by.

This is classic:
“Due to the report of the individual not previously visible, a lack of movement, suspected extreme temperatures, and indications of several thermal burns, the subject was determined to be deceased,” NPS ranger Phil Strehle also wrote in another report…”

Why Roman concrete outlasts its modern counterpart - CNN Style

Apparently Calcium Oxide aka quicklime is responsible for the durability of Roman concrete.
