Houses with no mortgage are apparently easier to sell fraudulently, because there's no bank interaction required. And I think most mortgages include 'title insurance' which protect you from the fraudulent sale of your home. Not sure how the buyer is protected. Buyers never meet the seller here, so you're probably relying on your lawyer's insurance. |
An interesting interaction with State LEO
First of all he was absolutely professional, courteous and justified in pulling me over.
Here's what happened. I was traveling down a dark two lane last night when up ahead I could see a patrol car with it's lights on pulled over coming the other way. As I got closer the bright lights made it hard for me to see anything other than the lights. I slowed and moved to the right onto the hard shoulder in order to ensure that I wasn't crowding anyone. I got by and resumed my drive. Less than a mile on I see the Trooper light up the guy behind me and come around. I figured he was answering a call, so I moved over as well. No, he was after me. He asked why I wasn't maintaining my position in the lane and I explained why. He said OK but I'm going to check your docs. "Do you have any points on your license?". "No sir I don't" He came back "OK sir you're good to go". So. I've been told that if you're not being reckless or careless AND you've no points against you a LEO doesn't really want to be the one to put points on your license. Anecdotal example of this being true or maybe he just wanted to make suree I wasn't drunk. As I said he was polite and professional. |

"No sir I don't" He came back "OK sir you're good to go". In two different occasions, the last couple years of being pulled over, I've had the same question asked. Also, both times another question..."Do you own this car?" Both times..."watch your speed..you're good to go" |
As I was driving down the road one time, I saw a cop had a car pulled over. I could not move over because of a car next to me, but I slowed down.
Next thing I know, he’s pulling me over for not moving over for him. Never mind the car blocking me.🙄 I got a warning. |
I wish they'd realize how blinding the emergency lights are for oncoming traffic. If anyone had been in the roadway I wouldn't have seen them until I was on top of them.

An icon about to fall
Those of us who grew up in this area know this icon well and when they were making Oreos the whole area smelled of chocolate.

Most folks these days don't care or do anything differently when they see lights flashing. The fact that you reacted made you stand out. I'm betting they thought you were drunk or under the influence of something. Quote:
Paul's thread about the Reina del Cid Death Cap song lead me to this song. I'm not big into country, but this isn't bad, and man is she cute! <iframe width="1280" height="720" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/VqlwKBrrMXk" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Fools And Bairns
Since I 'm too young to be a baby, I know what that makes me.
Sunday AM, in the barn changing water buckets when I walked behind the old gelding just as he was shaking a cramp out of a back foot. I caught it just below my left knee ( again). It was a few seconds before I was sure nothing was broken. Lots of ice, rest and motrin. No long time effects. Thank goodness the wife is through her bout of sciatica. Best Les |

That will leave a mark! Well at least there is still hockey to watch. :D
|
I haven't watched hockey since the days of the 6 team league.
While I was lying back with the leg up and either ice or heat on it, I got well into a novel set in France in the '40s "The Book Of Lost Names " The horse is now on meds to relieve the discomfort in his back legs. I got off lucky, again. Best Les |
Holy Hannah!
https://www.wogx.com/video/1198163 If we set aside a gas leak I'd bet on a dust explosion. When I was working for Warner Lambert one of our factories exploded due to dust accumulation in the air ducts. |
