As a teen, I always thought that the XJS was cool. It looked cool to me, much more so that the XJS, and it had a V12. And as a kid anything with a V12 is cooler than pretty much anything with fewer cylinders.

And that's why I'm posting this here.

Update on the fire in south west Nova Scotia. The affected area has grown to 84 square kilometers. Residents from one evacuated area have been allowed to return home ( including my granddaughter's middle school principal). In another area about a dozen homes were destroyed ( including her bus driver's home) my wife had been baking cookies and biscuits for the fire fighters. Donations have been pouring in for displaced families. Very little precipitation in the forecast but at least the temperatures have dropped. Spokesperson for the operation is saying at least another three weeks before all the hot spots are taken care of.

The wife is still on track to buying a horse. In a little more than a week we'll be visiting a horse trader that my wife's trainer trusts, and hopefully we will come back with something.

She's trying to save as much as she can, to get the best horse she can afford, and to that end she stopped her lessons at the end of July. When she stopped, I picked up the lesson slot and I've been learning how to do ground work with some of the horses. I imagine there will be times when she's too busy or too tired to work with the horse, so I can step in and keep him amused. I say him because she has her heart set on a gelding, not a mare.

The trainer twisted her knee, so no lesson this week. I took this opportunity to take the wife on a trail ride tonight. The weather has finally broke, it isn't miserably hot, and after a couple of cold nights there's a lot less bugs. They put me on a Thoroughbred named Twister, which might sound intimidating except he's 29 years old. It was a good ride. We got rained on. We saw a whole bunch of deer, including 2 or 3 young ones that let us get within about 30 feet of them. Even then, they just moved off the path, but didn't run like the older ones.
