W140 cars absolutely had engine covers, more than one piece, actually.

Get your freaking cover back, now. It’s not misplaced. It’s not a lock washer that is hiding under the table or accidentally get thrown away. Someone at that shop plans on selling it on eBay.

Had a lengthy discussion with the shop manager this morning. He said the tech had informed him that there was not a cover on the engine when he worked on it. I then told him that no one has touched that car but myself in the past two years and that the cover was on there when I dropped my car off at their shop and locked it. He then said they had recently changed management and that maybe the old manager had looked at the car also and had removed the cover, (yeah okay the car was only there a couple of days). He also said the tech was not there at the moment, was out test driving a car and they would call me back. About ten minutes after our conversation, he actually did call me back and told me they had found my engine cover in a back room. They open at 7am and I will be there to get my cover and be done with all of this. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
