Get off my lawn!
|
I got my money's worth from em.
I buy the Reebok Classic walking shoes as my daily wear shoes. Usually they last a year or so before they are worn down and beat up enough to be replaced with more of the same, and the old shoes become garage and mow the grass shoes.
![]() This pair finally hit the limit and when to the landfill. With just flat soles they were really slick and I almost fell a few times while mowing. I for sure got my money's worth. I already have a newer pair of garage shoes of the same style only with some tread left to replace them. I love them because they come in wide sizes. I wear a 10 EE in shoes. Reebok calls these 4E.

Same size that I wear....but I've never had the sole wear down like that!
The inside sides of mine go first....bunions.

You know with the application of a few short screws, you could probably get some more life out of those! Have you considered getting them resoled? You clearly don't take care of your shoes like you take care of your cars!
When it comes time for new undies, we don't want to know and we don't want photographic evidence. Please not, the previous statement is NOT in green text.

Looks about like the shoes I keep in the garage for dirty jobs and when I need more protection than sandals. 🤣
And Glen, I’ll tell you the same thing I’m often reminded by the better half, you can afford a new pair of shoes! 🤣 |

I love it!
I always have two pairs of these, they are all I wear 9 months out of the years for everything, farm and tractors included. ![]() ![]() As soon as the farm pair becomes to broken to wear, the "Wedding NB's" get moved over to farm use and I order a new pair on line.

I haven’t worn out a pair of shoes in almost a decade. I gradually went from 10 1/2 to 14 as the arthritis got worse. After getting new toe joints I’m back to 11 and hope to stay there.

Back when my knees weren't shot to siht, it was difficult to find true running shoes that adjusted for supination, as most of the gen-pop are pronators. It's probably why my knees are shot to siht now, countless miles running in the wrong shoes. Who can I sue?

Cargo pants and a tee shirt or polo shirt 2 sizes too big and white crew socks. It's the official old white guy uniform.

Yep, you're leaving miles left on them. Those would become my river/bay fishing shoes.
I have new pairs I've never worn. I guess it makes her feel better to buy me a pair too.

Life is too short to wear worn out shoe, all support are gone. This is coming from someone born with flat and narrow feet. My flat feet never bothered me until a few years ago. They get tired easily from standing or walking for only a couple hours so my custom insole from my foot doc fixed that. Now, I buy new shoe way before they get to that point. Every 6-9 months. With my narrow feet, New balance or Acsis running shoes are all I buy. Pronation is normally associated with flat feet. There's a new balance shoe that helps with a denser foam on the inside that help that during landing, walking or running. Those shoes are my friend. You guys should give it a try.
https://bestshoeswomen.com/new-balance-shoes-for-overpronation/ Number 9 and 10 are my go to shoe. I wear them everywhere I go in my short and tee shirts. Ok, ok, maybe golf shirts if I have look cute that day. Oh god, no white tube socks. Black or gray ankle socks, so no middle age white dude uniform. |

Old and used running shoes. Yuk.
Do you guys ever wash your shoes or do you keep the sweat, germs and stink collection going from day 1? They look like they could be used in Wuhan, for 'research'... I don't understand the appeal of wearing something old dirty and pretty gross for such a long time. Grossed out, sorry. Shoes are cheap, spoil your feet once in a while. \end rant

Those old shoes had little cushion left. They are in the landfill now. And G-man, yea the yard shoes get pretty gross. I do wear socks, but yard work get them pretty dirty. No, I never am going to wash those yard shoes, they get to a point they go in the trash, and replaced with a less worn out pair.
I have very high arches, and I do wear out the outside of my shoes. My high arches keep the inside on my feet from getting much pressure. I can look at my shoes, and it is obvious I am "left footed" and I pivot for turns on my left foot. That side wears more than my right shoe. I am right handed, and I do not even think about walking, just like most people. I just seem to use my left foot to pivot for turns.

If these shoes are yard work specific, wouldn't high tops or light weight boots work much better because it keeps the sand and small pebbles out of the shoe. I hate pebbles in my shoe. Damn hitch hickers kicks my ass.

They are only yard shoes because they were not good enough for daily wear any longer.
We have no sand in sight, and no pebbles either. The soil is pure gumbo clay if we get down below the grass sod layer. So grass clippings are about the worst of the stuff to get in my shoes. And I only mow our yard, and never want to have to go buy work boots for mowing or any other purpose. The current pair of shoes is is better shape than the one in the picture. I have a brand new pair I just laced up for the first use yesterday. The slightly worn out year old pair for wearing on rainy days will be a while before they are demoted to garage duty or yard work. Unlike Tabs, I am not even remotely a shoe connoisseur. I have my new pair, the worm pair and the yard shoes. I have some casual sim-dress shoes, and some dress up shoes. The dress up shoes are from our wedding nearly 30 years ago and have very liitte wear. Oh, I have some snow boots for icy or snowy weather, but those get very little use. That is all the shoes I own.
