And one of the things we tend to forget is that what is "normal " is constantly changing.
We get comfortable with what we know (or think we know),and get bent out of shape when we perceive change.
Change is the constant.
So many arguments on this board stem from this.

A little different list of items not to discuss.

1. Wife or girlfriends weight.
2. Wife or girlfriends hair style.
3. Wife or girlfriends ability to give directions.
4. Wife or girlfriends driving skills.

Most of you know I am right 😁

We can't even discuss Pit Bulls here ... that belongs in the Pit And Retriever Forum too. Seems like a small pack of yappy PARF'ers have invaded us laid back Labs again

Obviously there is an entire forum dedicated to the first 2 but there is some spillover… the last one on the list is also interesting because it has created a divide between friends, it’s made me question some of the people on this forum I had a great deal of respect for, it’s just weird.
Seems funny to me how some tend to forget that reading or participating in various threads is optional. If a subject offends you or is uncomfortable or undesirable, don’t read it or participate. Seems pretty simple.

It’s a car forum with hundreds, or perhaps thousands of members. Certainly not worth getting upset or offended...especially because it’s so easy not to.

I don’t get it. Yet, here we are in a thread about that very thing.

Very well stated and I certainly agree.
  • The first two are obvious.
  • The third is where politics and religion overlap, so it really falls under the first two.
  • The last one - I just don't understand how it has became so emotional/political, but I really do think the moderators should move the two threads on this topic started by member "Tobra" to the "Politics and Religion" forum.
Reading the threads on the topic of the COVID-19 vaccine is like watching the combination of a slow-motion car crash and Jerry Springer.

It’s not the subject that’s off putting, it’s the way that certain people who I have considered pretty bright over the 18 years I’ve been around here are behaving… it’s weird. Maybe you don’t see it but I certainly do.

Add to your list:

What is the best brand of motor oil?
Global warming/Climate change.
Is .380 ACP a valid caliber for self-defense?

There is a really worthy book out there. The book is titled "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a ****." It allows you the insight to let go of the things in this life you can't do anything about. Pretty much applies to the suggested topics listed for us to avoid. I'm through debating with Liberals over what they saw on TV yesterday! Now I smile, respectfully place hand on their shoulder and say; "You know, since I talked to you last, I AGREE with you!" That ends the need to keep making (push me-pull you) debate over things you truly cannot change. It leaves the heated arguing far behind... We all have strong feelings about what's going on in and around our nation. But it's futile to believe you will be able to change anything or change another's opinion (or your own). Let it go! Drive your Porsche, enjoy your life...
