There's a drainage tile plant in Ohio that recycles certain plastics for use in their drainage tile. The recycled material is actually better than using virgin plastic from a strength standpoint.

A little while ago a posted a story about how the plastics industry started the whole recycling claim years ago. Truth is only a very small percentage is recycled.

I have recycled milk bottle patio furniture. Lifetime warranty. SS hardware. Kinda spendy but won't have to buy it again.

This is interesting, but it may just be more plastics industry propoganda:
https://plastics.americanchemistry.com/Plastics-to-Oil/

Seems like a great way to deal with all our plastic waste, if it is indeed as effective as they claim.

BS meter went off-scale:

Gjenge bricks are also one of the more affordable options on the market. They cost approximately $7.70 per square meter, as opposed to $98 per square yard for concrete produced in the U.S

Concrete pavers like that cost roughly 50 cents each at home depot.

Obviously they were quoting the price of a yard of poured concrete, but why do that? Why intentionally try to mislead the readers by comparing the cost of apples to oranges?

Of wait, it's an enviro-wacko website. They have to be dishonest or they'll get kicked out of the club.

Be that as it may I think her process is still a good thing. We really do need to do something good with all of that plastic waste.

she's doing something good and innovative within her countries economy, that's true
but she's not doing anything ground breaking as far as world wide technology or resource problems/waste problems

They have been recycling plastic into new objects for years here.. plastic garden boards instead of wooden planks.. had em for years here.

Good for her that she can turn waste into something usable for her country, but all the plastic waste in the world can't be turned into bricks cause we'de be paving the entire world in plastic bricks nobody needs.

Infrastructure! Go back to paving roads with bricks! Only they're plastic bricks!

ok for pedestrians, in 3rd world countries

Modern countries already use plastic PET bottles for highway foundations.
Not for surfaces though it's a poor solution for modern roads

- Wear and tear resulting in microplastics
- High Noise
- poor traction
- hard to engineer out aquaplaning
- road signage difficulties

Ideally make siding or something to make lego shelter too.

Which brand?

My wife just bought some on Amazon. It's HEAVY and flexy. It seems well made, but not as nice to touch/feel as wood. Certainly far more durable. We returned it.

Yep, all of that. Even for pedestrians, no traction. I think folks would be busting their asses and heads all of the time. And yeah, it would break down over time due to physical wear, and presumably exposure to the elements would cause a fair amount of wear as well.

Or maybe pavers imported from the US cost a fortune there.

So you're saying it would be just like concrete or asphalt then?

Yes, but I suspect not as durable as either, and probably far more harmful for the environment.

The Romans got it right.
