20 days a year

I lived near Birmingham AL for a year and I remember the morning radio host saying,

"Well, this is shaping up to be one of the 20 days a year that the weather is perfect."

BTW, 15 of those days were in Oct.

I got up this morning at 4 am with a smile on my face thinking this is going to be one of the 20 days a year that go really well for me. At least I have the attitude to face the day.

However, the amount of corrections I had to making to typing this post because of one arm in a sling due to shoulder surgery (3 x now) has me wondering. I'll quit while I'm ahead and enjoy it while I can.

Hope everyone else does too. Quit sniping at each other. Let's call 8/18 Pelican Pleasant Day.

I love you, man

💘

I am with you.

In my day to day life I have people ask me "how are you today" and I never answer OK, my reply is always FANTASTIC! and said with enthusiasm. Some grumpy people are taken by surprise.

Yesterday (long story that is irrelevant) I was at the emergency room of a local hospital for an X-ray after the dentist dropped my new gold crown right in the center of my throat. Gag, gulp, down it went. They wanted a x-ray to be certain it was in my stomach and not lungs. I had no issues breathing, and felt fine.

The ER is a LONG tedious wait for routine stuff. I saw several people in bad shape, and the really bad ones were in a room, and just the average issues were in the hall with me. It is not a happy place. The security guard even mentioned you are in a good mood, and I said it is perpetual, and by choice. Of all the other patients there, I was in zero discomfort, and I had my cell phone to entertain me with PPOT and text with my lovely wife.

So when you hear someone asks how you are, reply with fantastic!, and tell yourself you are living in the greatest country in the world, you have plenty of food and clean water. You have a house and sufficient income to pay the bills and there is no one trying to kill you or actively suppress your actions. Life may not be perfect, but your life is better than 99% of the people that ever lived.

I'm with you Milt. It's finally cool today, I'm going to take the '83 SC to get smogged.

I was going to type "Try and get smogged" but we can do this! Today is the day!

Today's a great day. Our 37 year wedding anniversary.

Hey Zeke!
Good mending to you!
We actually had enough moisture this morning to make the driveway look 'damp'.
Things are looking up weather wise for sure.
Now if I can just figure out where all the mocking birds went...I miss their chatter in the morning.

Its the last day of Woodstock, I'm having a blast living in the past for a moment

Mockingbirds stopped mocking because it is Pleasant Day!

I'm following your advice, hitting the pool right after lunch.

Gonna spend a few hours in the garage with an old, obsolete, and slow Mustang. Not the detailing I once did on a P-car, but it'll look decent parked behind a pool hall tomorrow. wash-wax-windows-vacuum-dress tires-check pressure-fluid levels-clean under hood, etc. All the while being glad I'm not recovering from shoulder surgery and wishing our Zeke a speedy recovery...

They've been gone ever since this guy showed up one day last month.

Glad you're upbeat today, Milt. Sending positive thoughts your way for a speedy recovery. It's a cool, nice day here too. Time to get out and dig some holes.

Glad to hear that you were able to get the surgery out of the way again. I remember when the last surgery had an issue and you didn't think you'd go around again.

Smokey skies here but no fires close to us yet. Did you have rotator cuff surgery? Going on two years since my right one was repaired. I couldn’t be happier. I’m actually lifting weights again. So nice not to have that throbbing pain.

No RC. I had a total reverse replacement 1/4/19 and 22 months later it got infected so all hardware was removed 12/4/20 and I lived with no joint, only a spacer for 7 months. Now another TRSR as of 7/28. PT in another month for 4 months.

Then back to where I was (hopefully) mid 2020 which should be by the end of this year. If this one doesn't get infected which is a 25% chance now. As such, I'm on antibiotics for a long, long time and I feel like siht. No energy.

Nowadays I'm generally pretty ugly to just about anyone and anything which is why today seemed special. It's waning, though.

Hope you mend soon.
Thanks for suggesting this special day. I like pheasant!
