Weird car value question…

What is a rough 77 Euro Carrera 3.o tub worth?

There is no engine or trans and it needs serious work. It had a DP 935 wide body kit in it at one point. This is the shell and doors only.

The VIN is clean and it is registered to me.

I made a deal to trade it for some work with a friend but the work is no longer required. We want to get closure on this either way. I am not reneging on the deal, the work is just no longer needed.

2k ??

So, take it the tub has hacked off flairs when the DP body work was removed?

Pretty much buying a VIN, otherwise it's a sheet metal donor for other cars.

$2k is about what I was thinking. I bought this for a spare tub when I was racing my 911. It was my track insurance policy. I paid $1000 for it and travelled 16 hours to get it over 10 years ago… the work we had originally planned was more than $2000 worth of work.

Pics...it's worth more than $2k to somebody with a salvage or rebuilt title.

$2k seems light. Is it a roller? If so, then higher. yes, pics please.

Roller??

He was pretty clear that its a tub with doors and it's not clear whether it even has fenders or quarters. IF it's actually a roller with suspension, then yeah I'd say 2k is light.

Naysayers, throw out some numbers if you think 2k is light. It isn't anymore special than a regular '77 except for the stamped VIN.

Not a roller. I have the parts to make it a roller but it is pretty much a shell. It’s not a US spec Carrera so there are some differences between it and a stock 2.7S from 77.

Clean with a VIN? I would start at $5k CDN.

Assuming it's coupe, I'd say $4k-$5k. $6k+ in roller status.

^^^this^^^ a photo would help a lot. Quite a few of us have the ability to put one of these together if a significant portion is there. Otherwise, it simply becomes cost prohibitive. One could buy a running car that is a little rough (like the Beverly Hills folks sell) and get the job done much easier and cheaper. I am always looking for a reasonably-priced, somewhat rustfree mid-year, but if the quarters are cut out and/or significant welding is required, that is something else altogether. I can bolt on the rest (fenders, bumpers, etc.), and have most a car in parts (at least a 74/75 Targa). A suspension would go a long way (have plenty of wheels/tires, seats, bumpers, doors, radios, gauges, etc.).

Exactly 4-5 k for a 77 cut up racer tub is ridiculous, even for a 3.0 VIN.

Take that money and run laughing to the bank.

Of course, one could buy it and spend the next 10-15 years trying to source the unicorn parts to build a Euro 3.0 from scratch, if masochist tendancies turn one on.
